The one in Bristol is excellent but it is best to know what you are buying as I've seen quite alot of their manga/anime over-priced! Are there other anime shops in Bristol?

The one near where i live has a nice selection of manga. Better that the bookshops. They get U.S volumes though which i like because borders stopped stocking the imports. Got 3 volumes on the 3 for £15 deal today :D

I have no shops that sell manga near me (i live in stockton) so i have to go to FB in middlesbrough it has a nice colection of manga but its no differnt to the one in Borders and Borders has a better collection of american comics. The guy that owns the FB in middlesbrough said that he ownly imports manga from america and doesnt buy manga realesed in the uk.

I love Borders, they don't have one near me but when i went to the one in London the comic and manga section was amazing and much cheaper than FP with 2 for 1 deals

That explains it, i was wondering about that as well. Though if that is the case i'm also wondering why there is some publishers they don't stock yet Borders though (well according to their website anyway  ) like Dr Master releases.

The last time I was in the Leeds Forbidden Planet, they had nearly a whole wall filled with numerous shelves of anime. It's better for manga though, as they have a 3-for-the-price-of-2 offer there. There's also Travelling Man ('round the back of House of Fraser, couple of shops away from Little Tokyo) which is nice. Not sure if they stock anime (I haven't been downstairs yet) but they have lots of other stuff, like t-shirts, card and board games and various other comic and anime-related merchandise.

i go to forbidden planet in leicester all the time great for manga and games but i wouldnt get the anime from there unless its a rarer one u cant find on the net as i can gurantee its cheaper else where. the manga collection is awesome though they are about £2 higher for 3 for 2 than waterstones 3 for 2 fb 3 for 2 has a far greater choic imo check waterstones near you for the manga then fb

but the waterstones in the shires usually has over priced stuff..well okay the manga novels
i go to forbidden planet all the time ^^

Theres no Forbidden Planet stores anywhere were I live. But i've been on the website and the anime seems expensive O__o £19.99 for 4 episodes?

Yeah it's not a good place to get anime from unless it has that one you can't find anywhere else, its a good place to get manga from though and normally they will order stuff in for you if they can find it

From what people are saying I may have to give Forbidden Planet another go, stopped going in there years ago when they were charging top dollar for comics sticking the price lable direct to the front cover and not bagging them. Prior to that many moons ago when Manga(UK) seemed to be the only people doing anime videos(and I do mean videos) in the UK, FB charged way over the odds for anime videos as there was no internet shopping, and due to anime's specialist nature they had a captive market.

lee actually the waterstones in the shires is great especially the 3 for 2 means we get 3 manga for 12/13 pounds instead of 15 they dont seem to do the more expensive ones, although i do love forbidden planet for its dbz manga :) im getting the fma ones now :p if only they did a january sale lol

I don't know if it's the same with all of them, but the FP in manchester is a mixed bag for anime - Some things are really cheap, and some are ridiculously expensive.

The manga is usually £15 for any 3 £7 books, and they have quite a lot of them. ( Annoyingly though, they always seem to not have the ones I want. lol )

Is it Forbidden Planet or Forbidden Planet International?

When I was at uni in Teesside a few years back, they opened an FPI and I found it wasn't so good for Anime, it's the same for the store in Nottingham which I occasionally visit (I think it's an FPI). But in London I find FP to be pretty varied, and they have offers on too, tho not many.

For Manga I find their variety ok, but as I mentioned in another post elsewhere, I find that FP never has Vol 1-3 in stock for any series I want to start, so I always buy elsewhere if they have it.

I have more luck these days from HMV or Virgin (aka Zavvi), last week I was pleasantly surprised to find most Vol 1 DVD's only costing a fiver, I couldn't resist (curse my lack of willpower :( ) and picked up Tsukihime and Burst Angel Vol 1.
