We have seen images of the cast and the set but now a video is online showing a court-room sequence from Takashi Miike’s live-action movie adaptation of Capcom’s long-running Nintendo DS game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

Takashi Miike announced that he was working on an adaptation during a press conference where he mentioned that in his next film “there will be ‘very little blood” and added “It is a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS”.

Phoenix Wright will be played by Narimiya Hiroki one of the stars in the ninja adventure Azumi as well as the stylish Sakuran. Phoenix Wright’s assistant, Maya Fey, will be portrayed by Kiritani Mirei who has recently worked on the live-action TV version of Arakawa Under the Bridge and Miles Edgeworth will be portrayed by Saito Takumi (Thirteen Assassins, The Prince of Tennis).

The film is being produced by Toei who have built a massive court-room at their Kyoto studio and as is clear from the video there is a heavy emphasis on CG. The film will be released in 2012.

Did you see the way he pointed that objection finger!!! Awesome.

Hopefully this fares better than Miikes Yakuza adaptation, which from what I've heard isn't all that great. But then the man bangs out so many movie's some have to be duds right? Hopefully Phoenix isn't one of them, the cast and style is looking spot on so far.

I'm loving the way they kept the objections in. Also, I imagine the holograms are used to try and replicate the fact that a player can see absolutely everything on their game screen, and somehow, even people across the room can see every little detail, despite no one moving in the court room? xD

Yeah, i tweeted on this yesterday but neglected to add it here again. Basing it off the first game looks like a great option to go with, i just wonder how much of it will be covered, and how long it'll be. I'm pretty pleased with the way it looks so far though, i have to say.
