The second of three theatrical films in the Mardock Scramble saga is due to be released in Japan on the 3rd of September and a trailer has been released for it.






Based on the cyber-punk light-novels of Tow Ubukata (creator of Le Chevalier D’Eon), the story takes place in the neon-noir streets of Mardock City and follows a young prostitute named Balot who was taken in by a vicious gambler named Shell. She would have died by his hand if she had not been rescued by Doctor Easter and his self-aware Universal Tool, Oefcoque who takes the form of a shape-shifting mouse. Now a cyborg, Balot has increased physical powers and the ability to affect any kind of electrical system and she’ll need these powers if she and Oefcoque are to survive the machinations of Shell and his assassin, Boiled.

The main cast includes Megumi Hayashibara (Neon Genesis Evangelion) as Balot and Kazuya Nakai (One Piece, Sengoku Basara) as Shell and the films have been scripted by Tow Ubukata and produced by Aniplex. For more information, visit the <a href="http://m-scramble.jp/">site</a> (Japanese language)

I've heard of this title, but this is the first time I've seen any of it. I must say this looks like it has some style, but where's the first combustion? Is this coming to the UK, or summat? I'd buy it if it is.
 
Pretty colours, but the trailer left me cold. I'm hoping they don't use the fact that the protag is a prostitute to show her naked all the time.

A slim hope, but whatever.

Having seen the first film, I can attest there was no nudity beyond what was necessary to establish the plot. (I should note, however, that one of the antagonists had an obscene body decorated with human breasts. Fortunately or otherwise, said villain was soon disposed of.)
 
I'm excited for this one. The first movie had some really good action in it, the fan service wasn't too bad, but it could do with a lot less. The villains were great, but their victim's body parts sown in their own was gross. IF not for that, I'd happily recommend this series to anyone.

I see. The naming convention follows the stages of a combustion engine! This warrants extrapolation regarding the title of the second sequel:

The nudity in it wasn't as gratuity as it could have been, but still it could do with no nudity at all and a less OTT villain would make this one of the titles you use to recommend anime to people. Shame that wasn't the case.
