...I ended up paying money for bootleg goods. I feel ashamed. :[

Y'see, I'll never get caught out on the anime bootleg side as I'm clued up when it comes to what's authentic and what isn't. However, when it comes to soundtracks, I'm not (or rather, wasn't) clued up and ended up getting caught out by a Final Fantasy VII soundtrack auction. It looked real enough - proper case, proper artwork, 4 CDs and booklet - but it seems like pirated soundtrack releases are much harder to spot than the anime variety.

It's going to be painful to be unable to say that I'm too smart to get caught out in the future, but I'm sure I'll pull through after a little bit of soul searching and negative feedback giving.

The first thing that alerted me was the fact the front of the CDs had nothing like 'soundtrack' on them, instead (rather oddly) having 'character' on each. They looked unofficial. I did a quick search for the product numbers and discovered GM219-222 are releases of a bootleg company called EverAnime - that's all there was to it.
 
This is exactly why I rarely buy anything off eBay anymore.

I've been duped a few times and I'm just sick of it. I know for a fact a few boxsets I have are bootleg (I only realised when I opened the parcel), and I'm suspicious that my Chobits wallscroll is a bootleg/fake.

Bootleg soundtracks are so numerous (and often pretty convincing) these days that after buying three of the damn things in the past year without realising at the time I decided to just start downloading them. I don't like doing it but if I'm going to rip something off I don't want to have to pay someone else for the privelege of doing so. The artist might not get anything but neither do the bootleggers.

And +1 to the number of people who thought the thread was going to be about wanking.

You're flattered by the thought of someone thinking of you as a man called Roy who, for reasons unknown, is playing the role of a female called Rui on a message board? Internet people are certainly more easy to please than the flesh and blood kind...

Just in case you're preparing to slap me after this, I'm not being 100% serious about the Roy thing. More like 30/70.

And, with regards to the comedian comment, I've tried many times but gave up when only I ever laughed. People do laugh at some of my comments that aren't meant to be funny, though...

I admit to collecting the Naruto fillers on purpose. We may have to consider that I have a screw loose somewhere.

I'm so used to being called a man (especially in online games!) and complained at for crossplay that I just laugh about it :)

It's a known fact that everyone in an online game is 100% male unless proven otherwise, especially those who use a female model/skin/character.
