This slapstick comedy focussed on a secret organisation named Across which is lead by Il Palazzo. He aims to conquer the world, but first, must conquer Fukuoka city as a first step. Aiding him are two loyal followers, Excel and Hyatt (all three named after hotels) who live in an apartment with their pet dog, and emergency food supply, Menchi. Their adventures involved parodies of other manga, various genres and themes and frequently featured gloriously surreal and chaotic moments.

Written by Koshi Rikdo the manga was originally published in Young King OURs magazine and ran from 1996 until last week which makes 15 years! Excel ♥ Saga was adapted into a popular 25 episode TV anime for TV Tokyo by J.C. Staff by from 1999 to 2000 but it followed a different storyline from the manga. It was broadcast on the Sci Fi channel at 5:00 am and a collection was released by ADV Films.

I found it hilarious. Excel shall never die.

27? Ah crap that means I have to sit and hope for another five volumes to be released to complete the series. I own 22 but have yet to read beyond volume 4 so far despite it being one of the first manga series I started to collect in 2007 /o\

I watched it all when I was off work ill 2 years ago, some parts were dull (Mechii's animal episode) but I found most of it pretty funny, especially Pedro's Subplot.

I liked the anime but never got into the manga version. I also thought the manga had finished ages ago >_>;
