The dub is ok, but the music for the dub is crap. I can't believe they actually dubbed over the music -.- It sounds completely retarded and ruins it completely- Be sure to watch it on jap+subs :p

I don't why it says it's from the movie because it isn't. The movies only have one soundtrack each and the music wasn't memorable.

The DN track I linked to on the previous page is a haunting one. Like many of the DN tracks, it only appeared a few times during the entire series, once during a death scene and then just before the end during a sequence where, wordlessly, each character was shown getting ready for the grand finale.

There are many tracks in DN that were only used once or twice, most in fact. That's probably why I'm able to recall each track so easily -- the music had more impace because it wasn't overused.

Since I only linked to one piece of DN music, here are a few more tracks. It's actually hard to link to just a few because the 1st and 3rd soundtracks have so much amazing music.

Just to mix it up for you Maltos, It's hilariously bad to listen to it in Japanese. They sing in English quite a lot, so they sing in Engrish quite a lot. FUNimation put loads of effort into the dub, and it easily shows. One of the best I've heard, both singing and voice acting - the voices sound genuine, rather than cartoon.

The engrish is great! "HEY MAN, IN MY HOME TOWN OF NEW YORK CITY, A LOT OF MY FRIENDS GOT KILLED I DON'T **** AROUND MAN" But in the dub, they just made them say it in a slight american accent (even though all the rest of the dub is in an american accent). The engrish is one of the great comedy values of it! :p
 
Anything involving Yuki Kajiura or Susumu Hirasawa.

Also absolutely anything from Utena. Not terrifically surprising anyway as it's a special series to me, but all the theatrical choral songs and eerie vaguely-magical-girl BGMs sound great. Mixed with some Makkun songs and some faux-classical pieces and there isn't a single bad CD in the set.

All of the Evangelion OSTs are awesome. Along with the Paprika OST, they are the only ones I've felt compelled enough to buy. The End of Eva OST is particularly brilliant. Susumu Hirasawa's score for Paprika is amazingly good, but only for about 6 or 7 of the tracks. The others are all passable. Ghost in the Shell: SAC had a great OST as did Fullmetal Alchemist. I really enjoyed Code Geass's soundtrack, too. The music in Akira was great, IMO. That's all I can really think of right now. I think Cowboy Bebop's OST is hugely undeserving of it's reputation.

How could I have forgotten Giant Robo's dramatic, bombastic Warsaw Philarmonic orchestral score? That one's definitely my favourite. When the apocalypse comes, I'll be playing the Giant Robo soundtrack.

anything from Final Fantasy 7 onwards has to be my fave soundtracks, although if i had to choose one of them, it would be Final Fantasy X 8)
 
Favourite Animé Soundtracks

I suspect this topic has been done before, but I'm new and interested =P.

My favourite soundtracks would have to be:

"Death Note" favourite pieces: Death Note Theme, Near's Theme, Mello and Low of Solipsism

"Code Geass" favourite pieces: O, Beautiful Emperor, The Master, Nightmare, and Madder Sky

"Trigun" favourite pieces: Never Could Have Been Worse, Fool's Paradise, Colorless Sky

I really like Ouran's soundtrack too, but it's not the sort of thing I'd listen to on it's own, you know? But it really fits the show perfectly. I also like the style of "Baccano!"'s OST, but I think there are only a few really strong pieces, the Baccano Theme being one of them (it has a much longer proper name but I can't remember it).
