An unofficial fan-made trailer has been released for Studio Ghibli's newest movie, Kokuriko-Zaka Kara (From up on Poppy Hill).

A Japanese fan stitched together all of the television teaser trailers that have been released giving a better idea of what the film will be like. Based on Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsuro Sayama’s 1980’s manga, the film was directed by Goro Miyazaki and has not fared too well at the Japanese box office (where it currently resides at humber five in the charts) compared to previous Ghibli release Arrietty due to the strength of international franchise films like Harry Potter, Cars, Transformers and Pokemon.

NNo. 5 in the charts seems ok to me, although I guess Japan should be Ghibli's home territory when competing to the aforementioned franchises (bar Pokemon) so I can see why it would be dissapointing, maybe people still haven't gotten over Earthsea yet and they're just judging Goro off that.

I wonder what the critical reaction to this has been like. I would imagine Goro would probably be more at home and feel less pressure directing a manga adaptation like this than going for something like Earthsea straight away.

I'm definitely interested in this one although I have to admit its not as immediately appealing to me as Arrietty is.

Yeah i think your right,i think people are just doubtful about Goro as a director i mean earthsea was not the worst movie ever just not a good Ghibli move but considering that Hayao Miyazaki co wrote the script for Kokuriko-Zaka Kara can only help,we shall wait and see.
