Today, Manga Entertainment announced on their facebook that the first volume of the anime adaptation of Hiro Mashima's highly popular "Fairy Tail" manga will be released in the United Kingdom on 5th March 2012. In a previous announcement, it was stated that the first volume will contain the first 12 episodes of the series.

Earlier this year, FUNimation Entertainment announced that they had licensed the first 48 episodes of the series; the first volume of which will be released in America on DVD and Blu-Ray on 22nd November 2011. The "Fairy Tail" anime began airing in Japan in October 2009 and has recently been renewed for a third year.

Although nothing has been confirmed, it is expected that the UK release will be DVD only.

Awesome news but im kinda wishin it wasnt march and was february as previously estimated since ive got about 5 games to buy but looks like i'm gonna have to work overtime :p

Yeah; at least it's early March though.

Watch the American release be Region A and B xD

lol :lol: It would be cool if we got a Combi-pack too but i highly doubt it after seeing the sales of Manga's recent blu-ray releases (Casshern, X'amd).

What will the outcry be over first - the fact that we don't have a BD release here, or that we might only get the first 48 episodes released?

*looks at episodes 49-95* Is that really a bad thing?

Knowing FUNimation, they'll only dub episodes 1-48; or at very least, we won't see 49 onwards for a few years.

There hasn't been much filler...just that the Oracion Seis and Edolas arcs haven't really been much to write home about.

I'm pretty sure the guy who draws Fairy Tail used to be Oda's assistant, so I guess he just absorbed Oda's style. Like Cell.

Apparently, Hiro Mashima never worked as an assistant for anybody.
 
Rave was virtually contemporaneous with One Piece, far too much is made of the superficial similarity of their styles imo (not that they aren't superficially similar in some ways).

Oh, right. I kind of agree that Oracion Seis isn't all that, but I really like the Edolas arc. Have you read the manga and just think the anime isn't as good?

I've only read the first 4 volumes of the manga. Tbh, I prefer the anime to the manga xD
 
Fairy Tail looks a little like One Piece
looks like a extra shelf is in order for Fairy Tail

to be honest il think il wait till the boxsets come out that way 26 episodes of Fairy Tail will be easy to get instead of 12
 
So so close to my birthday and yet so close to another...

I'll probably buy despite the thought that Manga will probably give up on it at some point.

Considering FUNi only have the first 48 episodes licensed, it seems like this will be released in 4 12 episode sets. I hope this series does sell well; hopefully then it might help convince Manga that One Piece would be worthwhile (although iirc, isn't the whole deal with that being that Toei are demanding mega money for it?)
