What the heck happened at the finale episode? I feel that may have gone over my head... >.>; Also what's the difference on some of the DVD's? (Platintum collection). There are 2 versions of some of the episodes, but I havn't checked them out yet... Thanks!

Wikipedia has all the answers ;) or at least, theroies, Its been a while since I watched them so I'm not entirely sure what happened.
Wasn't it something like he found his place (accepted people), but no one liked it and thus two movies were produced telling a different ending
I'll have to watch it again some time

Well 1 is what is known as the eva movie(ultimate sucide anime).

shinji trying to find ...

Wait why hide it i doubt any anime fan has not seen it.

Shinji reviewing his life and looking different possibilities and outcomes(episode 26).

That was the ending that led to the director getting 100s of death threats and creating the movie.

That about sums it up. In the commentaries with Matt Greenfield he says that Episode 26 is where the characters are at the beginning of the series and the progression of the series if like a flashback. I think that's what he was saying. :?

i think i seen an interview/article that there will be an evangelion movie that's coming out this summer or this fall... not sure... i dont remember my sources maybe i'm making this up will sleeping.........

Hideaki Anno's head swells to record size.
Fixed :p .
I'm still looking forward to the movies though.

Short and simple end to Eva ep.26 as I saw it: - Shinji works out his issues and can move forward to be with his friends and family in the world Lilith has created (kinda).

Short and simple end to End of Evangelion as I saw it: - Shinji rejects Instrumentality, and returns to the world.

EDIT:

Thanks for the replies but...anyone know about the episodes on the DVD?
Haven't got around to watching them yet, but I think they're just directors cut-type episodes, so while they could have more material the basic episodes will be the same.

They are the Director's Cut episodes and regular broadcast episodes. The regular episodes are the same length as all of the other episodes, whilst the DC ones have added bits and the editing is done differently.

There isn't a world of difference IMO, but you get to see the Eva graveyard in more detail and some extra flashes during the weird scenes. If you watch the DC episodes you don't need to watch the regular episodes because they won't add anything new.
