Epic Film/Anime

People have already said my main choices already for epic titles with Akira, Wings of Honneamise, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Lawrence of Arabia

So some other choices not yet mentioned:

For Anime: Evangelion or later One Piece story Arc

For live action 2001: A Space Odyssey
 
Hmm My 2peneth..

Epic, anime maybe Last exile.

Though Ghost in the shell is my fave i don't think it's quite epic in scope...

As for somthing live action... may be Band of Brothers? But it can be a bit of a Testosterone fest.
