Eden of the East on the Big screen

Would anyone be interested in seeing all 11 episodes of Eden of the east in a cinema in HD?

Currently trying to organise it.

Event would be whole of Eden of the East plus a couple of Anime classics.

Feedback please. :)

Also, how about Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood epsiodes 1-13 in HD shown in a cinema?

How would you overcome certain....logistical problems, like the fact no one cinema will be convenient for everyone? Nice idea, but I doubt people would be willing to travel for it.

I also happen to know that renting out a cinema screen is quite expensive. Unless you can get 200 people to come along and pay to get in, you'll make a loss. Also, you need whatever you wish to show in a format that is compatible with the cinema projectors. I don't think you can just hook a blu-ray player to them.

What? Are you serious? Yeah, renting a cinema is expensive and I'm sure if you do it someplace other than the middle of no-where, your likely to get a fair amount of people coming. This guy might not even be wanting to make a profit.

First thing if you haven't already done so, contact MANGA UK regarding showing one of their title. It's illegal to show a title of theirs in public without their consent.

A cinema maybe a bit too big, so would be better to do a smaller screening at a club room type place and show the title through a projector onto a large screen.

13 episodes maybe a bit too much to watch in one night, better stick to films because of that and theirs a better possibility of getting animes in 1080p if they are films.

Humbug, EoE is only 11 ep's and its only about 4 and a half hours long, thats not to bad is it?

Still quite a lot when its twice the length of even the longest Anime Movie. Anime Movie's would also look better on larger screen than EoE because of their higher budgets. You would get away with EoE in some regards because it was filmed in 1080P but not many series get that.

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood that was mentioned as another possibility to shows is animated only at 540p.

Do you know any digital cinemas? I've only been to two in my whole life, a Vue in Leicester Square and one in Downtown Disney in Orlando. They might not even be "digital" or whatever, but they were damn sharper than most cinemas - whose picture isn't actually any good. IMAX possibly show a quality image, but since hardly any sequences, let alone films are shot for that size, it doesn't make a huge difference either.

...And I didn't think it'd be that long. Considering I wanted to go to the 80+ hour Lost marathon that begun today, I never even thought 11 20 minute episodes to be tasking in the slightest. When you do film marathons, they are meant to be long. Isn't this the same thing? (Honestly asking, not being snarky.)

Also, anything is epic on a cinema. You might not realise it on a computer screen, but seeing that TTGL or Bebop episode would be mindblowing when shot up to that size. IMO, of course.

Movie marathon you got the option of not watching every film. I find also you need to have breaks from series occasionally otherwise it just become too much. I absolutely love ONE PIECE anime but couldn't watch the bigger arc in one sitting.

A lot of anime would look good on super large screen, IF you have high quality source to show it from. TTGL was filmed in some form of HD so should be fine on larger screen. But I am not sure that cowboy Bebop taking account its Standard Definition would look so good on cinema screen.

I imagine there would be breaks (probably one or two), I'm also sure a lot of people would disagree about marathoning One Piece.

And again, most cinemas don't show in high definition.

11 eps of Eden of the East would in no way be too long for people who actually wanted to go and watch it on a big screen, cut out the OP and ED from the middle episodes and you're talking not much longer (if at all) than the extended cut of one of the LotR movies. Especially if you have an interval, very easy to do.

I do, however, agree that this is some sort of logistical nightmare. Unless you started this from the position of owning/having access to a cinema, as well as the legal issues of showing the series publically like Neferpitou says, the financial and physical aspects of setting this up in isolation would be huge.

the show is 11 episodes am i right? Like Ilmaes has said, just cut out the OP and EDs for most of the episodes and you'll just end up with a very long film, it can be manageable, but i don't think you would want to view it all in one sitting, i did that with School Days and i just got restless for the last 3 or 4 episodes, but that's just me

Some people, normally those who aren't that internet-savvy can do one thing endlessly - or those who can focus on only one thing. My mates, somehow, can go through entire series of things without pause because they have nothing better to do. Me on the other hand, I need to check the news, what other people's thoughts are, analysis and other stuff. It's a subjective thing. And a quality thing, I guess.

Damn, I would pay through my teeth to see bebop episodes on the big screen, I highly doubt it would happen ever though. :(

The movie edition is possibility though, I guess a 1080p Blu-Ray edition of the movie will come out at some point.

Adding breaks would be an option but at the same time would add extra time to the event. Even with OP/ED removed you still talking about over 200 minutes, so over 3 of footage hours+.

Time need will also have to include the set up time, waiting for everyone to arrive, toilet breaks, etc. You can't start the showing too late or early as their would be trouble get their from work/eduction or getting back because of long journey back because of the need public transport.

If done on weekend it would alleviate some of those troubles, If the showing was through the day instead of the evening of course.

Actually cinema have been showing film for year in HD. Done some research as didn't know really myself for sure but the resolution of film at the cinema screen is roughly 2048x1080.

----------------

The best option for this to work instead of using a cinema would be seeing if you can use facilities of school/college/university. Some may have the required screens and projector to screen anime. A lot anime clubs at university start off by using those facilities.

One question remains though, where is the shazadx's based as the likely location would be have to be somewhere close to them. That would be OK if they lived somewhere accessible like London or Birmingham but elsewhere in the country could be a problem.

It would have to be local since I have no money and despise travelling.

I once attended a free showing of Kiki's Delivery Service at a cinema here in Cardiff, pretty sure it was the UCI in the Bay. The US DVD menu being up at the start was a pretty clear indication that this was a digital projection:p
