Hi guys,

i just ordered a copy of GITS SAC 2 boxxed set had been waiting for the £30 one to come out and i realised i havent bought any anime since august and that was only so i could complete my Noir collection (which i intend to watch one day i know ive had them for 5 months but ill get around to it ;) ) has anyone else noticed this or am i just not as interested as i thought i was

It's just whatever you feel like watching.

I try to think of anime just as a series/movie rather than something different. I don't treat it as a hobby but just as a form of entertainment. Sometimes I feel like watching certain things sometimes I don't. At the moment i've reverted to my martial arts stage where I constantly hunger for period kung fu movies and haven't really felt like watching much anime of late. I do feel the urge to rewatch Witch Hunter Robin and Cowboy Bebop again soon though.

I DUNNO WHAT I'M SAYING! I'm so tired I don't even know if that was relevant.

Other than the new eps of bleach and another anime that comes out once a week i don't really watch any other stuff.

I think once you see a certian amount it just gets a bit old

Haha, an anime forum where ever sod is getting bored of it! Wonderful. :p

After posting my first post in this thread I decided against going to bed and now i'm actually gonna try and watch at least half of Witch Hunter Robin tonight.

Don't force yourself to watch something if you don't want to. That's just silly. Take a break from it and go back to it later. That's what I always do with music and tv shows and a lot of the time when I come back to it I enjoy it just as much as I did the first time.

I do think you can get bored of anime if you stick firmly to your favourite genre. If all I watched was Shonen Jump anime, I'd be seriously jaded too. yeti1983 - I suggest you look at something you wouldn't normally bother with... If you haven't already seen it, I recommend Fruits Basket as a great comedy / drama, and something that is refreshing and heart warming to us action junkies :)

I agree with all of that.
My bro forces me to watch some of the more shojo-like animes, like Fruit Baskets, and I end up enjoying them. Visa versa, I force him to watch more bloody-filled item with decent action. At least he stood up to Elfen Lied. XD

But as far as I go, I haven't had any thoughts about abbandoning anime or manga. That is what fandom and being an otaku is all about!

My interest in anime doesn't dwindle, but I can go without anime for a few weeks at a time.
But I have quite a variety of anime to watch so something should interest me almost all of the time. But if I don't feel like watching anime I can just start reading manga, as they are sometimes better than their anime counterparts.

The biggest problem I have is when I have just received a load of anime to watch, not knowing what to watch first and watching none of it for that indecision... :p

I did that over Christmas, it took me over a month to watch Samurai X: Reflection, but it was worth it in the end!

If you thought Reflection was good, you really should read the Rurouni Kenshin manga. The few parts that make it into Reflection are so badly mangled that they do the originals no justice.

Back on topic, I haven't really lost interest in anime and manga in the last three or four years. Could be because in that time I've watched a very broad range of stuff, from action to romance to comedy to horror and back again with everything else in between. I like to keep my options open, and will often start watching something completely random, just to see what it's like. Certainly I've seen my fair share of crap, but far more often I've been pleasantly surprised by something I had no idea about.

My interest in all my hobbies including anime is like a transverse wave it rises and falls fairly regularly. Usually influenced by what niffy new things i get. If i get a new game more into gaming, flash of inspiration start writing like a deamon, new anime ... well you get the idea. It is also affected by my mood as well. Bad mood, load up GTA San Andreas, if don't want to think i watch Tenchi or Rahxephon, if I want to think watch Patlabour or Rahxephon, gifted by a muse write a few pages of my book/ webcomic/ manga. Some times the highs can last for a few months, sometimes for a few days. Equally the lows can go for a while as well.

I’ve only been watching anime since last September and I’ve seen over 30 series and around 20 movies and I have no feeling of loosing interest any time soon. But I suppose it’s inevitable that my interest will wane at some point. I think a few previous posters have made a good point that it’s best to treat anime as just another form of entertainment and not feel obliged to watch it all the time.

But for those who have become a bit jaded, my advice is to check out Mai-Hime and Haibane Renmei. They’re what I’m watching at the moment and they are both incredible.

Never dies, infact it grows and grows which unfortunately makes my bank account shrink. But its worth it.

I seem to have new mangas/dvd's turning up most days

Same here. My poor bank balance has been destroyed every week since the new year with my anime/manga purchases
But it's all worth it in the end :D

My strong love of anime is costing me dear too. I've just checked my bank statement and I've spent £315 on anime DVD's in the last month. But you can't take it with you, so what the hell!!
