HMV online certainly sold a lot of things at £17.99, I don't imagine they'll be able to do so any more.
As for the whole Channel Islands/UK tax incompatability thing, my solution would be to make the UK more like the Channel Islands, not the other way around. Yeah, they attract more business than the mainland because of their favourable tax rates. You'd think the solution to that problem would be to lower the tax rates and tariffs on the mainland. More business for everyone. But no, let's have less favourable business conditions everywhere instead. After all, the government has taxes to raise to pay for the debt they've rung up bailing out badly run private banks and subsidising loss making companies they themselves privatised who pay their Directors six figure salaries. Words can no longer express how much I hate the British government. I'd have to commit arson to express how I feel.
