Dragon Ball Z Query

Guys

Can anyone confirm this for me.

My brother wants the Dragonball Z movies but not with the dub that is available in the UK.

Am I right in thinking that in the US the dub was the same as the series but the ones over here were re-dubbed by Jetix or whoever showed it?

Well, the UK got Blue Water's dub, FUNimation dubs America's dub and all of the movies, and we got some badly done UK exclusive dub for most of the movies.

So FUNimation does the US releases of the movies and not the UK dub.

actually, the UK dub of the movies was by a completly seprate Danish company, hence why it makes even Blue Water look good

but yes the US ones are the dubs we know and love

Those UK DVD dubs were dire.

Piccolo as "Big Green"?

Dragon balls as "crystal balls"? WTF, that's the point of the series!

The US movie DVDs have fantastic dubs. I think they're a nice change of pace from hours-long battles with resurrecting enemies too (not that I don't like that).

A company named 'Bridge Pictures' did the films that we have over here.

Since we only received FUNimation's dub for the Frieza, Garlic Jr. and a part of the Trunks saga (and, for a period, the Fusion saga when CNX was around), the movies from the US will contain a dub that UK television viewers may not by completely familiar with. That is to say, the dub won't contain the voices that UK viewers were familiar with for the majority of the television show.

If your brother has played any of the video games, though, he'll recognise the voices.

Edit: Ocean dubbed the first three movies, too, however. FUNimation has releases of them, as well.
