The film is based in the world of Bioware’s popular fantasy RPG Dragon Age Origins and acts as a prequel to the next Dragon Age. The story follows Cassandra a member of the Seekers who is called in to assist the Chantry, a religious order dedicated to bringing stability to a world corrupted by magic and restraining mages and their cabals.

Chiaki Kuriyama, best known for her roles in Battle Royale and Kill Bill, takes the lead as Cassandra Pentaghast, Shosuke Tanihara (Vexille, The Sky Crawlers) plays a mage named Regalyan D’Marcall and singer/actor Gackt (Supernatural: The Anime Series) plays a knight-commander and sings the opening theme song “Until the Last Day.”

The anime has been produced by Oxybot who have worked on the ova TO while Fumihiko Sori, director of the CG anime Appleseed, is in the director’s chair with Dragon Age Origins video game script writer Jeffrey Scott writing the script for this film.

I wanted to think this will do well, but then i saw that it was going to be CG animated, and i gave up hope. It just....doesn't look right. I respect what they want to do, but after Dragon Age 2, i'm finding it hard to back anything Dragon Age. I'll maybe give it a watch eventually.

Also consider that Bioware is now lots of miniature companies with different teams working on different projects which explains the decline in quality. DA2 looked like the first big mistake, ME3 looks to be the even bigger one.

Yeah, to the extent that I can't even work out what makes The Old Republic a "BioWare" game - it's just a bunch of guys who previously worked on MMOs that EA threw together into a team, right?
