Brigade Leader
Genocyber OVA Part 1-5?

This OVA came out in 1993 and consisted of 5 parts. Part 1-3 was released in the UK by Manga Entertainment in 1994/95, but 4 and 5 were never released in the UK for some reason. Even today, I still do not know the reason why Part 4 and 5 never got released in the UK by Manga Entertainment. All 5 parts are available on one DVD on Region 1 DVD. The english dubbing of 1-3 was done by Manga Entertainment which was good, but 4 and 5 was done by Central Park Media which was poor.

This OVA is very violent, but has a good story. Part 1 has a few controversial scenes in it which I am surprised the BBFC in the UK did not cut as it was passed uncut back in 1994.

The character designs and artwork in all 5 parts is excellent. Part 1 is impressive animation wise. The animation in 2-5 though was slightly more low budget, but still very good. The soundtrack is excellent and I really like it.

Storywise, Part 1 was the most strongest as it had a combination of a back story to the character to be and a tragic love story well blended in. The rest of the parts, the story became average.

Does anyone else remember this OVA? If so, what is your opinion on this OVA?

:)

Damn, that's a blast from the past. I definitely bought the first OVA, years and years ago, but I'm not sure if I watched past that. There's one scene in particular that stands out, and that's when a group of children are gunned down, which really shocked me. Alas, there's not much else I recall.

If that spoiler tag is any indication then I think we've solved the mystery of why not all the episodes were released in this part of the world. Especially not back in those days.
