Disturbing subtitles

This thread is not so much about subtitles that have been mistranslated, but about subtitles which are wrong for more disturbing reasons.

For example, I watch Volume 1 of K-On! last night with subtitles and in the first episode there is the use of the word "spastic", which as a person with a disability I find somewhat uncomfortable. I also re-watched the same scene with the dub and that does not use the word. I guess the subtitles were made in America where the term is less offensive.

Yeah, it's not offensive in America. DO you remember the transformers they tried to name spastic? I find it curious since retard is a big no no in america, when to my ears, it sounds less offensive than spastic.

Also this probably isn't real but I felt it was appropriate

I have heard about that yes.

I personally find no offence in either word, despite having a disability, mainly because such words are generally not used for their original intention anymore.
