Disgaea coming to Sony PSP & Nintendo DS.

By now this news is a little old, as I've been too lazy to post it until today. I just thought some of you tactical RPG fanatics will be happy to know that the popular Disgaea franchise is heading to the PSP & DS. Now, the PSP version has been out in Japan since '06 and it was announced that there will be a Western release in '07. As for the DS version, that news a little more new, and I'm not sure if it's going to be a simple re-make of the original or not. At the end of the day, the good news here is that you'll soon be able to enjoy Disgaea in a portable experience, so Disgaea fans can rejoice.

I think the DS version is only been hinted at so far - enough to know it's coming but I don't think any details have been announced.

I got the first Disgaea, but every time I play it I get bored leveling my characters. Give me Fire Emblem any day!

The DS news is new to me, and if it does get released on it, i'll be getting it. The PSP one i've seen here and there. I would have got it imported from japan, but since its got a western release, i'll wait till then.

I think, in regards to the DS version, there was an interview with Atlus on an RPG site, when someone asked if there was going to be a DS version, Atlus replied something like "Wait and see =)".

Cool I'll be looking forward to seeing Disgaea on the PSP as I don't have many games for it at the moment and would love to add some more to my collection

Q. Any chance of Disgaea on the Nintendo DS?
A. Let me just say this... you can look forward to it!
It's quite rare to get an answer like that from a rep. Although it isn't official yet, I'm betting we can look forward to seeing Disgaea on the DS. Why not, since the game could indeed be great to play on the move, especially if they make use of the touch screen to command your characters.

Quick check.. The US version will work on a EU PSP right? (not tried a foreign game on my PSP yet)

No doubt if the US get a release the EU version will come out later, and the Playstation Portable Games are region free; meaning you can play games from any region, The simple answer is; if you import it will work.

As answered, all PSP games are region free so as long as there's no language barrier preventing you from understanding the game you should have no problems playing it. Although make sure you keep in mind that UMD movies do not apply, so they will have region protection.

UMD Games = Region Free
UMD Movies = Region Protected

Disgaea is one of my all-time favourite games, so I can't wait to play it on PSP! Not so sure the DS version will be able to capture the same irresistible charm of the original without voice acting!

The NDS is more than capable of including the voice acting, and since Disgaea's not a graphically demanding game it shouldn't really have any problems if it's just a simple port.

Are you sure that DS will be able to handle voice acting? I really, really, really doubt. I mean some developers had to place limits on voice acting in PSP, so I don't think DS has much of a chance, to be honest. But, we'll see.

You may be rıght, but I have my faıth that ıf the effort ıs made then voıce actıng ısn't really a problem. I thınk ın portable games the reason why they avoıd voıce actıng ıs not really due to hardware lımıtatıons but maınly down to the fact that portable games usually need to depend less on sound, because when you're on the move you're usually ın a crowd where ıt's too noısy to hear such thıngs. So yes they may not ınclude voıce actıng as ıt's not much use unless you're wearıng headphones but I thınk ıt ıs technıcally possıble ıf they really wanted to get ıt done.

CG, FMA : DS have voice acting on it, not a lot, but it has it. So if disgea comes to the DS, it might have the full voices.

DS has more potential than you think

I'm not so sure, maybe small bursts of voice acting, but nowhere near what PSP is capable of storing.

Yeah, but who needs Voice acting. Because in a Isometric game, you do not need voice acting.

Mind you, I would buy the PSP version, because I wanna play it in Japanese voice overs.

I feel in Disgaea, you need the voice acting. It adds to the fun that the game has. I think that the DS does have the potential to have the voice acting in it, ok it may not manage somethings, but i think it could handle this. The PSP version however will probably have the ful VA'ing in it, so it'll be good to get that one and see what the japanese VA'ing is like

Just to ruın the party:

The PSP versıon wıll also have extremely annoyıng loadıng tımes to make up for the voıce actıng ıt gıves you. Anythıng Sony gıves - ıt takes from elsewhere. :p
