Yeah its always got a good line up, helps when its sponsored by the Cool Japan initiative through the Japanese Embassy here though. It opened last night with a Taiko drumming performance outside the cinema before Thermae Romae 2. And previously had Makoto Shinkai over for a special screening of Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below with a signing session afterwards.

On the anime side this year the highlight has to be the Only Yesterday screening as they have a proper 35mm print of the film. A Letter to Momo and Time of Eve are also being screened thanks to Anime Limited.

Ace Attorney was on a few years ago and they only had Digi Beta and had to have a 2 minute gap in the middle of the film as it was on two tapes

Well from Ace Attorney to this year's crop of great titles (which outshines quite a few festivals I've seen so far), whoever is programming the festival has great taste and I'll try and report about the festival from now on! Only Yesterday is a real tearjerker for me but Time of Eve has to be my top pick.

I hope you have fun watching some of these films! :)

I have watched Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends and it was excellent. It's the final day tomorrow in many cinemas including my own and I am tempted to see it again. I'll be getting the DVD to complete the trilogy as well. I hope Warner Bros. brings over more Japanese films they have produced!

I managed to see it on Saturday, really enjoyed it as well. I wonder what sort of films Warner Bros could bring over though, I think the live-action Space Brothers was done by Warner Bros?

It was done by Toho. The anime movie was distributed by Warner Bros.

As far as them bringing more films over... It's very tricky because they have invested in a lot of live-action and anime productions (both adaptations and original content) but will there be enough of an audience for something like Takeshi Kitano's latest to justify the costs? Hopefully the anime crowd mobilise to support more of these releases so we do get the chance to see more.
