Details about Haruhi S2 and the Haruhi-Chan bonus...

I wonder why S2 is spread over three discs instead of the usual two.

Also, £40 RRP, discounted to £27. No thanks. I'd rather they left out the Haruhi Chan crap and gave me the series at a price closer to their other releases.

3 discs? Silly move; that means one disc will have nothing but Endless Eight on it - everyone will skip that disc xD.

Or maybe that was the reason? To allow people to easily be able to skip them.

If you look at the banner on top of the DVD case it says "the complete season 2 over 3 discs". No mention of a CD, and they'd probably make a point of it if there was one. It seems the Madman version is 3 discs, so that would explain the disc count of this release. It's for the best, anyway, as there'll be less compression with 5 episodes on a disc than there would be with 7.

If it's like the US release, then it has a bonus CD with the opening and closing songs.
Which sucks that there isn't one listed. I got all the Limited Edition volumes of the first season, which had a CD with each one. Although that was Beez...

In fact, that raises the question of as to why Beez didn't get this.

Manga outbid them, I'd assume. Which is bad for any collectors, but good if you want it cheap at the expense of quality.

As I've said before If I can't buy Haruhi-chan (the bit I actualy want) without season 2 no sale.
Guess I'll have to import.

I also remember Andrew (Beez) saying that he wasn't interested in Haruhi S2, although whether he meant personally or as a representative of Beez was never clarified. After all, Endless Eight would make a lot of Haruhi fans suddenly uninterested in S2.

What I'd like to know is if Beez were outbid on Disappearance, or if Disappearance, S2, and Haruhi-chan were sold as a job lot.

With Haruhi-chan part 2 given a R1 and R4 July release date, it would behove Manga to issue a statement on if and when they will release that.

This is the Japanese (sub-only) release of Haruhi-chan they bundeled, not the US (dubbed) one.

Wait, why didn't they include the English dub aswell?

My guess is they're forced to licnece and release it to get the rights for the movie.
They don't actualy want it, and are just cutting costs by bundeling it and not having the dub.

Let's be fair, Season 2 of Haruhi was a bit of a let down. I'm glad we're beyond 4-eps per release, because whichever one ended up being all endless eight would never have sold.

YOU THERE SIR! (or Ma'am) I have a proposal. As I have the exact opposite inclination I am more than willing to sell you Haruhi Season 2 for £15 ONO. I only want the Chan series, provided it's the full series. I know it says "collection 1" but I'm hopeful it's all on there. The whole thing lasts around 2 hours so if they've split it in half that's kinda money grubbing...

Assuming it's the same as the rest of the English speaking world, Collection 1 has half of Haruhi-chan, and Half of Nyoron Churuya-san. Collection 2 has the other two halves...

testi-balls... In which case I'll hold fire until I hear of part 2 getting released.

Besides, Manga's losing the plot on their pricing, especially Blu-rays of late. Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino + OVA seemed reasonable at £34.99 RRP, but they pulled the OVA but didn't reduce the price.

They've got a £10 margin between their DVDs and Blus which is excessive to begin with, but doesn't take account of the content. They're asking £29.99 RRP (discounted to £15 at Play) for The King of Eden, an 81 minute feature, and think they can justify it with Air Communication, a 2 hour recap episode of a series that anyone buying King of Eden will already have. At least MVM didn't hike the price of Burst Angel Infinity because it had the recap movie of the series on it as an extra.

Funimation release the King of Eden for $34.98 MSRP in the US, as a Blu-ray DVD combo, 3 discs.

And Casshern Sins Blu for £39.99 compated to £24.99 for the DVD. Did they actually want to sell it?

Thismentions 4 discs total (presumably 3 for the series proper) and 25 episodes of Haruhi-chan/Churuya. The plot thickens. Perhaps the Churuya shorts are considered extras for this release and it has all of Haruhi-chan?

I like how it's assumed everyone will skip Endless Eight. I bought the US set and watched every single episode in order, all the way through.

Lot job, so we never bid on Disappearance actually at the end of the day as they were sold together.
