The two live-action Attack on Titan movies wil play at Derby’s QUAD Cinema on January 22nd from 8:45 pm.
The films adapt Hajime Isayama's hit manga and were directed by special-effects maestro Shinji Higuchi. His filmography as a director is packed with big-budget films like The Floating Castle (2011) and The Sinking of Japan (2006). The story has been reimagined for the big screen and characters have been changed but the film features the titular titans who were brought to the screen by special effects from splatter film director Yoshihiro Nishimura who is a director himself. His works include the titles Helldriver (2011) and Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl (2009)
The film is screened as part of its Satori Screen series which highlights East Asian cinema. Other titles that have featured as part of Satori Screen have included the live-action Rurouni Kenshin (2012) and the Satoshi Kon film Paprika (2006).
Tickets for the screening of the films are on sale now and can be purchased at the cinema’s site.
