Eventually everyone is a pirate in some way or another, but atleast they managed to go legit and recognized by companies or they wouldn't have simulcasts.
Think of it this way, Microsoft stole Sony's idea for a system which Sony got from Nintendo who got it from.....we can go on forever such as Playstation Move and Microsoft Kinect are just more blatant rips of wii stuff or would you call that progress or change in design something nonetheless, the main point is now crunchyroll offers the animes for free no charge unless you want the premium memberships, but regardless its better than all the illegal downloads which are worse.
I can't say don't do it because heck thats how I started and I can thank so many companies but we have to realize it just causes more trouble in the end with all the new laws and protections
