Following on from a poll the other day, Crunchyroll have now setup a petition to get 100,000 signatures and help it aquire the rights to simucast Bleach.

The petition will be sent directly to japan, and if sucessful, could see simucasted on the site.

Crunchyroll already have a deal with Tokyo TV and is enjoying sucess with other SJ shows such as Naruto Shippuden and Fairy Tail

anyone interested in signing the petiton is asked to visit http://www.crunchyroll.com/petition/wewantbleach

Why do they need to petition? Can't they just buy it?
And If they do get it, I wonder what that well-known fansub group who does Bleach and did Naruto before CrunchyRoll got it will do next

huh, still no wan piece though
Where is the one piece, they can't find the one piece

Yeah, but if they can show there's demand for it I think something happening isn't the most unlikely of situations. Naruto is even animated by the same people as Bleach, IIRC. I also wouldn't imagine the petition is the only thing CR have in their arsenal to try and get the show.

Yeah, they're both animated by Studio Perriot
So, are they petitioning to get it at a lower price or to get it for free?

They probably need to show it would get enough viewers to turn enough profit. For once the online petition would actually give good numbers as it's online numbers they need, no need to check they are real people from correct location etc., so long as they are people that visit that website.

Problem is; at what episode will they be simualcasting when there are a few hundred eps that no one except the fansubbers have seen yet? Also Bleach is a money maker round the world. I doubt Studio Pierrot are going to want to ruin that using CR when they don't have to. :)

No Bleach before One Piece.

You mean TV Tokyo, who holds the licence. And it will start at current episode, remember their audience are those who are currently watching fansubs (who are ~20* the size of DVD buyers), starting at wherever Viz are up to will only lose Viz DVD sales and do nothing to get people away from the fansub.

One piece is imposible (it's alrady being simulcast in the US) and you should all know it.

Are you forgetting what a non-issue that was for Naruto and many other shows that air on CR?

One presumes that, unlike Ryo, Just Passing Through has an up-to-date US Visa. Head to the Embassy post haste, Ryo!
