Crunchyroll and Kodansha team up for digital manga service

Re: Crunchyroll and Kodansha team up for digital manga servi

The Distro is all over the place, they have all of Seven Sins, they're about five issues behind on UQ (Negima 2, you'd think they'd want to not arse that one up) and I don't even know with AoT.

Oh but if you want dumb shoch, there's all of that thing from the Glasses and Punk dood that's not Glasses and Punk and full of fanservice because that's what everyone wanted.

This is kinda a pale offering when one looks at Jump and I can imagine things only going to **** once publishers start exerting that stupid right to region block for reasons that don't go far beyond "F'you"

With anime the region restrictions is for the most part determined by who CR get the license off. So I would expect that most Kodansha manga would have a similar set of regions available.

However, Kodansha is also probably the Japanese publishing company that is most open to directly working towards making their series available to the rest of the world, particularly once you factor out Shueisha & Shogakukan who would obviously do stuff through Viz rather than CR. If and when CR start working with other publishing companies, the region restrictions could be rather smaller.

It's a shame, really, considering that, compared to most other large Japanese manga publishers, I don't think Kodansha's manga lineup is particularly good.
