So, I wanna import the Dragon Box, but I can't find the cheapest place, and I'm not sure about customs charges..

This is what I have found so far:

Amazon Marketplace: £24.19
Play.com Marketplace: £24.36
up1.co.uk £34.50
Axelmusic £36.56
PlayUSA.com £36.99

So, which is the best option considering Customs, ect.? And has anyone used anyone cheaper

right stuf : $ 36

Yeah, but what about customs, international shipping ect, ect.

Anything over £18 has a chance of being stung for custom charges. So add £4/5 for custom charges and a further £8 for Royal Mails handling fees (if it comes through Royal Mail that is)

Amazon Marketplace.

I have never had to pay any customs fees or the such like on anything bought from any of the sellers on there. Although, I did mostly use Caiman, who appear to have disappeared off the face of the planet. :(

You wont get customs with right stuff because of the way they do the custome lables and the postage is $10 for the first item and $2 for each after that.

Ive used right stuff quite a bit and ive never been hit with customs as long as you dont order more than 4 or 5 items in the same order you will be fine -they mark each item/boxset as $5-

What are these exactly? Is the footage in them the untampered originals that Japan got for their Dragonboxes? If so, awesome.
It's the same footage as the Japanese dragon box

(which is the original episodes film, taken straight from cold storage, all of the broken frames redrawn, and it looks amazing :D )

DVD Pacific would work out no cheaper after shipping, and the answer to your second question is essentially contained in the two posts above yours.

The orange DBZ boxsets are also remastered, tinkered with, etc etc. The bad image in that link is not from the orange boxsets.

So I ask again, what makes these Dragonbox sets any better than the orange DBZ sets, perhaps excluding the improved Japanese audio of the Dragonbox sets?

Edit:

Imagem1.jpg

This is a good comparison. It shows that the orange DBZ boxsets look just as good as the Dragonbox sets. The only downside to the orange sets is the minor cropping which you will only notice if you compare. Seems also that the Japanese audio on the Dragonbox sets is also in mono according to the site I read.

Actually, I see a lot better looking image in the DragonBox part. The whole cell looks more crisp, and the noise is left, which is awesome. Kai looks terrible, though? That can't be right...

I beg to differ. That is probably one of the worst picture quality comparisons I have ever seen; They're not in order of quality and they show different parts of the image so you can't directly compare the difference!

Also, what Jayme said.

This is a plus point, since it's actually the original audio.

I doubt it's taken from the BD release.

Either way, you don't need to see screenshots. No-one in the world of DBZ fandom would agree that there is a release to match up to the Dragon Boxes, otherwise there would be no point in Funi releasing them.

My point is that they are only a little bit better than the orange DBZ boxsets, not a huge leap.

Personally I'd rather not have the noise left in. I have the complete series in the orange boxsets & I think they are fantastic quality. I don't like the cropping, but it is minor & I do not notice it.

Oh, I'm not saying that you personally should be unhappy with the other sets. But there are many obvious reasons why most people would much prefer the Dragon Boxes.

Aye, you could look at them as being like a 'special edition' compared to the orange ones. I just don't see what the big deal is when the only differences are the packaging, some extras perhaps, & some very minor visual differences.

The Dragonboxes look like they take up more shelf space too, but I could be wrong.

I think the "big deal" is that they are the exact reproduction of the show, as it was supposed to be seen and heard. So however minor you might think the visual changes are, to someone who wants the "proper" version of the show, the changes are absolute.

Buy whichever box set you like, but enjoy the show for what it is without getting your panties all moist over irrelevant differences. It isn't the colours or the unrefined noise effect that make the show good, & I doubt anyone watching the show ever really thinks "I love that noise effect & those authentic colours, they're what make the show so good".

Not that I'm one to talk, given my affinity for shiny things.
