Character Appreciation!

Ok, we all have our favourite characters and shows that will be embevelled into our heads for all eternity. But it would seem unfair and unrealistic to not notice many of the other memorable and dedicated characters from any and all series.

So, for all those who care about these poor characters that dont get it from us regularly, it's time we gave a little appriciation to the other characters in our lives that make a difference.

In short, this is a place to make comments of not the favourites of favourite, but the characters that made your days for, at least, a short while.
I'll use mine as an example:

Today, I would like the following from "Slayers" to be noticed!:
Naga the "White" Serpent
Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun
Naga deserves it, for she has the bravery and pride to wear something so perversed and not be bothered. But her main trait of recognition is none other than... Her over-powering laugh! Not only is it funny to hear, but has a "hypnotic" ability to recuit followers. E.g. Daughters of rich Merchants, Clones etc.

Just as much as Naga and her clothes, Amelia has her over-the-top pride in something more commendable... Her belief in that "Truth And Justice will Prevail!" This overly pampered girl has somehow managed to follow in her father's footsteps and become a fighter of justice. That, and I'm sure she's an otaku... Who else would be mad enough to repeatively strike a pose from high places... then crash and burn?

So congratulations Naga and Amelia! Tonight, the world knows you!

Megumi Shitow (for Rahxephon)
A tragic heroine, who despite it all tries to keep a smile on her face. Didn't fit in well at school (possibly bullied), and has lost at least one parent (possibly both). Suffers a bit of an inferiority complex with her elder sister (who's taller, more liked and has a bigger chest), and also really unlucky with love. 1st crush she looses out to here best friend, 2nd crush to her sister. Despite being a love rival to her sister she still cheers her on and tells her never to give up on Ayato even though it breaks her heart.
 
Jiro "Gai Daigoji" Yamada (MS Nadesico)

Though not in the series long enough to make much of an impact I Think that he was excellent & Funny every time you see him. His Stupid Comments & His Die Hard Following to Gekigangar 3.

His Stupid Comments during a Fight refering to Gekigangar 3 attacks was quite funny and just couldn't help but laugh at the fact he still had the action figure with him in battle

his death was kinda shocking, unexpected and al together kinda weak for the Crazy Personality That Is Gai.

He is the Best Stupid Character with a heart of gold that never stood a chance

I was very fond of Tatiana Wisla from Last Exile. She is for me a good example of an underappreciated character. I enjoyed her passage from ice cold and self confident vanship ace through broken wreck to her true self, a kind caring team player.

I was also fan of Chloe in Noir. I was quite taken by her secrecy and mystery and her unmatched skills with knives (and forks). And even though she turned out to be a little unhinged, a lesbian and ultimately dead, I will forever remember her important role in a superb anime.

I like this thread. I’m surprised there haven’t been more suggestions. And can I third the idea of Gai getting his own show?!

The boards seems little empty in general.
Liked Tatiana as well, but wasn't the biggest fan of Gai. His exit while unexpected served a greater good and he would have got real irritating after a while.
 
Winry from Fullmetal alchemist; to say she made all of Eds automail she did a pretty good job and shes only 15 (well in parts of the story obv.). she was the inspiration for my ear cartilage piercings !
 
Johan from Monster is a pritty overlooked character, I'd say he was one of the best villians in anime, being able to manipulate people and kill people with only psychology.

Teresa from Claymore, fairly new but I feel she will be an overlooked character in time, her attachment to Claire is quite something.
 
Teresa i think may get overlooked, but she should be given some appreciation due to the effect she has on Claire
 
Primula in Shuffle! By far the shows best character and the one that develops the most. Even though shes chucked in the back burner after her story arc she is still the best character and the most enjoyable episodes to watch are the ones with her in it.
 
Greed from FullMetal Alchemist! Unlike the other Homunculi he has a decent personality(without the "I WANT IT ALL! I AM GREED!" attitude) and we all know he would of destroyed Ed in his fight against him. The only reason he lost was because Dante had weakned him...
 
Benny - Black Lagoon - such a down played character yet he has an awesome muscle car, the main land transport of the Lagoon crew, a computer hacker who keeps the tech side of the boat running. He has a dark past which is only ever spoke about briefly about when he was a Florida Uni student and used his pc skills to rip off the Mafia (would love to see this anime style, where they come after him). He's also a look at what Rok could become, as he had a good upbringing, intelligent, had money as he could afford uni in the US, but crossed the line into the darker side of society.

Dutch and Benny both got brushed asside after the first 7 episodes. I would love to know how the crew all came together and how it started, also Dutch and Benny's past. If they did a third season they really should cover that angle.

Agreed I would also love to know how Revi met and joined with Dutch as she is from New York originally

More characterization would be awesome, Revy especially, Dutch I missed once he was put in the shadows. Benny I wasnt really bothered about.
