CardCaptor Sakura

I was thinking about purchasing the first boxset today. Its a series that looks like it will remind me alot of saior moon, and I generaly am a sucker for the sweet super powered girl genre... :p

So has anyone viewed/watched CCS? What did you think of it? and where can I get the boxset in the uk? I found it at oktau.co.uk for around £60.
Maybe someone can send me the first volume so I can "trial it?"

I recieved the first boxset through a couple of days ago; nice set.

The show is quite enjoyable; but if you have watched cardcaptors, it will seem quite different, as the plot and the characters differ slightly due to the edits that were put in.
 
I've seen all of Card Captor Sakura (1-70) and it is lovely, but the only similarity to Sailor Moon is the "monster of the week" scenario. She's 10 years old and doesn't transform. It's a very sweet anime, very sugary, so make sure you like that kind of thing first before investing that kind of money!
It's nothing like Cardcaptors either, which is possibly the worst dub in the history of anime dubs and so cut up you wouldn't believe. I think I managed 5 episodes of Cardcaptors and just couldn't stomach the porno movie voice actors, the worst ever name changes, or the fact it gave Shaoron the lead role. It was called Card Captor Sakura for a reason.
 
I only watched 1-2 eps of CCS and I like how they did it. The edited and broadcast version took a bit too many liberties, and to be frank, the company that originally produced it in English thought that it would be more popular if they "butch'ed" it up.

Card Captor Sakura is the absolute last title I would have ever done that to.

So yeah, enjoy it... now that it's unedited, you should really enjoy it
 
card captor akura is a very nice seire and i paln to buy the frist bocset after xmas myself. Its a fell good seire and very cute, its made by clamp so its got alot of the stuff they add to they seires.
 
This is a series I'd love to get once I have enough cash saved up. I enjoyed Cardcaptors for what it was, although the way it was edited made some things completely incomprehensible, and when I found out about Cardcaptor Sakura I wanted to be able to see the entire series how it was meant to be shown.

I like CLAMP's animation style, and I think this has been one of their best-looking regular series I've seen.
 
The only thing about Cardcaptors that I remember was that annoying little yellow thing with wings that proper freaked me out!

My opinion's a little bias though. Magical girl titles aren't really my cup of tea.

Yeah that was it! All I remember was that he/she/it had a really annoying accent and it popped up at the end of every episode with a microphone and spoke really really quickly. Scared me half to death!

That was Kero's Corner :lol: Are you talking about the dub or the original version? as he was really cute in the proper Japanese version and his seiyuu is Aya Hisakawa who does Sailor Mercury ^_^

All I've seen is the dub which I'm told is atrocious, and judging by my current enthusiasm levels for the series I can see why :shock: . Like most things though I'm sure the Japanese version isn't quite so annoying, but like I said, I don't generally tend to go for cutesy woo titles (unless they happen to be yaoi based :wink: )

Don't even get me started on "Sailor Moon"... :evil: :wink:
 
Where would I be able to buy the original Card Captor Sakura DVD's from? I have checked Play.com and they only have the dubbed "Cardcaptors" (ACK!), and I don't trust Ebay.com...

I am looking for the original uncut japanese DVD's with english subs can anyone help?

United Publications has the first season in a special boxset that has recently been released, it's about £65. The second season is due out next week (they'll get that in too, same price). They are the uncut original versions, but as with Sailor Moon for the first 89 episodes, it's subbed only, as the series was cut and then dubbed!

The Japanese version isn't so annoying because it concentrates on Sakura, rather than Li and the others. The shounen-ai element hasn't been taken out and all the other elements that make CCS very enjoyable are intact (i.e. the lovely music, the wonderful voice acting, Tomoyo's affection for Sakura, Sakura's affection for Yukito etc etc).

It's the absolute same with Sailor Moon. I mean they even turned Zoicite into a girl for the dub, just because he's in love with Kunzite!! I'm not sure which of the two has the worst dialogue change, but I'd say Sailor Moon probably wins over CCS for that, just slightly!! With both of them, it's like watching a completely different series when you watch them in Japanese. My biggest moan about Sailor Moon in English, is they tone down what a complete b*stard Tuxedo Mask is in the English, although I never could understand why the anime company made him out to be such a complete **** in the first place, as in the manga he's really cool and effective and has an amazing fighting attack that actually does damage; it's called Tuxedo the Smoking Bomber, (that is actually used in the musicals!!).
 
i thought the series was good epsecially near the final judement i thought there was a good twist. i liked the dub of cardcaptors and the original but the only thing i didnt like were the edits. it was on GMTV kids but they have cancelled ity*aims Rocket gun at GMTV kids*
 
I liked cardcaptors more than sailor moon, moon was ok but abit too sugary for me but I did enjoy the theme tune and the transforming bit. The manga is just as good however : )
