Britney Spears next music video is anime-style

Troubled pop icon Britney Spears has jumped on the so-called 'anime' bandwagon with her latest music video for the song "Break the Ice", which depicts the blonde singer in a very anime-familiar style, though according to <a href="http://www.manganimation.net/news/?p=308">Manganimation.net</a>, it was actually animated in South Korea and directed by the UK's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hales_(director)">Robert Hales</a>. If you're interested, screen-caps can be <a href="http://www.toplessrobot.com/2008/03/britney_spears_and_anime_turn_to_dust_in_my_mouth.php">seen at Topless Robot</a> or the whole video can be <a href="http://www.veoh.com/videos/v6408972mm26K683?searchId=1590881681612731015&rank=1">streamed via Veoh</a>.

Regardless of how I feel about Britney Spears, that art style is really ugly. However, that doesn't surprise me since the majority South Korean animation studios aren't exactly at a respectable level.

I muted the video while watching it because I can't stand her voice or songs.

I thought the animation was alright, its better than some I've seen.

It's pretty cool by bandwagon-jumper standards but it does have a very low-budget outsourced look to it. Anime-inspired for sure, but sadly doesn't make her go any higher in my estimation.

If it's a real anime music video with a rockier companion tune you're after, Anime Diet posted an excellent video that Gonzo did for Dream Theater. Not only is the tune more up my alley, it really makes good use of Gonzo's fluid style that they're so good at when they're on top of their game.

I thought the actual animation was fine, just the design decisions such as the unrealistic (yet not terribly stylish) twirling around everywhere and costumes were lame. Still not bad though overall.

Liked the Dream Theatre one more :) so I'll add Two-Mix's old, famous animated video too, though it's nothing like as ambitious:

Back in the day I bought one of their CDs I didn't really want just to have that on a disc

Britney's vid wasn't too bad, although, with most music vids, I had no clue what they were all doing. Also, why is Akuma (Street Fighter) in the vid? XD Those guards really did look like him facially.

As for Gonzo's vid, I didn't find it that tasteful. Just wasn't my thing.
White Reflection hit the nail on the head for me. I could probably watch that numerous times and be ok with it.

pffft if people want to use anime in their music videos

they should take a lesson from amv makers like this

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VPtFjAUZgtk&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VPtFjAUZgtk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

It was..alright i guess. i didn't like the music, but the animation itself was decent enough to watch. It did feel somewhat cheap however. I agree that it was probably anime influenced, but was i the only one that thought the influence came mostly from ghost in the shell?

What he/she says.

There is something about it which reminds me of Aeon Flux animations, actually...

I was going to say the same, I thinks it's because the mouth is wider than the face. :P

So we have a mishmashed mess of scenes with a crap vocal over the top... Hmm, should do as well as her last single.

I like that one martin, nice track and much better style... But then again i'd like to see a within temptation anime video ;)

Thats one of the funniest things I've ever seen

LMAO!!!!

The "Leave Chris Crooker Alone" one was even funnier.

Personally, I never found it funny. Actually, I found it funny and sad when other people were laughing at it.

I do not have the humour or the stupidity of an typical american, who found it funny in America when they posted that video.

But nethertheless, apart from that video. Chris Crocker did make some videos that are worth to watch which did raise a few issue. Its just a sad thing that everyone hates him because of one stupid video.

As for the Britney Anime Video... well I never liked Britney in the first place =P
