Boxset/Limited Edition - What it looks like??

I've spoke with Rui and he said the idea was nice so here I am.

I am creating this thread with the purpose of helping everyone outhere who wanna see something before they buy or wanna see what's the content in that special editon or the artbook that comes with the boxset and so on and so on.

So, if you wanna know the looks/content of something, just request it and then wait to see if someone has it so he can show. It can be new or old stuff. It can be anything.

Since I'm the one starting the thread, i can say all anime i have with special editions, not the single volumes. If you wanna see one just say it and i'll take some photos.

R2
Paranoia Agent

R1
Basilisk
Beck
Great Teacher Onizuka
Rurouni Kenshin OVA
Karas
Ninja Scroll TV

Actually Rui is a she

This is quite a good idea for a thread :) The only special editions I have myself are the LE Haruhi volumes 1-4.

Anything, you say? Such an offer must be seized —occasio aegre offertur, facile amittitur.

I request a photograph of one your current residence's radiators. There is no compulsion for the radiator to be actively heating its surroundings when its likeness is captured, though the entirety of the object should nevertheless appear in-frame.

I have both the Premium Editions of the Toradora! volumes if anyone wants to see.

Also have the rather nice looking boxsets of Basilisk (Funi), MVMs' Shana box set and the Chevalier D'Eon box set.

Also have the 3 Tekkaman Blade collections which are really nicely done even if small.

If anyone wants to see any of them...just let me know :)

I'd like to see. I've got volume 2 on order...such a shame that volume 1 is out of print...

Here's the Toradora! ones.

For clarifications the boxes at the back are really heavy set formed chipboard units, each wall probably being about 4-5mm thick. The 'episode guide' are little hardbacked books, which are actually more than episode guides, as they have things like info about the characters, character relationships etc etc.

The disc packs themselves are just little thinpaks, to ensure they could fit everything snuggly inside the big outer holders without having to make those too big.

The Case as well as the artwork, have all the relevant info like you might expect to see like the segment on the aspect ratio, audio language and format etc.

Thanks for the pics - they look really pretty. Nice to see the boxes put up against the thinpaks so I can see their size.

Such a shame I didn't jump on the Toradora! train before volume 1 went out of print. (No, I will not stop pouting about that).

Yeah, the boxes are quite literally over twice the size of the thinpak DVD cases, as you can kinda guess, the guidebook goes inside on the bottom with the two DVD cases next to each other on top.

I wasn't expecting them to be so big when they first arrive, they're really nice but dont fit in my shelving well so are just sitting on top.
The guide books undersell themselves a little I think, as there's lots more in them in terms of art, character info, other bits of info etc than just episode notes.

The back of the thinpaks detail give a short synopsis for each episode on that disc, and a picture taken from them :)

With the exception of Spice and Wolf (which is over a much larger collection), I think Toradora holds the crown as most I've spent on an individual show so far, as the premium kits weren't cheap when they first arrived.

I'm just glad they fixed the initial disc issues as that would have made me an extremely sad panda, I plan to actually watch these discs when I get round to my rewatch, although perhaps I'll switch back to my HDTV broadcast not sure haha
I doubt we'll ever see the BDs Japan got unfortunately.

I have no LEs but I never knew Paranoia Agent had an LE boxset...

It's not LE, its a cardbox one. Thin Pack. You'll see it in a few minutes. :D

Ahhh, there was another set for Beck as well which, if I remember right, came in an amp shaped box.

I had to settle for the SAVE edition as I could never get a full set as most of the singles for said set were really hard to find when I started looking. The Beck Live Action movie that came out last year is actually surprisingly good, I was pleasantly surprised by most of the translation; like the Kimi ni Todoke live action it sticks to the original plot most of the time and does a decent job with the actor choices.

Hmm its nothing special indeed. Thought it was nicer. 30e for that its a bit too much.

Since is the same price as the uk one, I have to think about it. Does anyone can confirm how it's the one in the uk market right now?

jesus why was i away from anime the past few months??? Didnt know there was a beck LA!! I'm gonna watch it tonight!! :D

Regarding the amp edition you were talking about, that is the LE that comes with the first dvd and you can put the rest of the show inside it. That one is selling at play.com through another seller at is around 3€ now and the other dvd's are around that price too. I would buy it if I didnt had this one.

You can check here.
