If your lucky yours should be there
if its a common one it should almost defiantly be there
I should point out that a lot of players made by companies such as Panasonic cannot be hacked simply by entering codes with the stock remote control- a special unofficial controller must be bought or loaned, often at a price sufficient to buy a cheaper DVD player outright.

I don't know of how one would deal with NTSC format issues though. I only use a computer myself.
Most TVs nowadays are NTSC compatible. You can also change the format on the DVD player sometimes. The one I have and linked to has a multi function, so I don't need to switch between them.

If you buy your player from an small Independent Electrical Retailer, they will usually Region hack the higher end players for you, something that your Comet and Dicksuns Group stores won't do.

Frankly not having a region all player is shocking nowadays, especially when they are so easy to do. All the cheaper ones can be done by yourself, the brand ones need a little help.

My first Sony, I had to pay £50 extra to get it chipped way back when. By the time I bought my second Sony 18 months later, it was done by remote hack for free. I recently bought a Panasonic PVR multifunction machine, and it was hacked in the same way.

DVD Reviewer has extensive hacks which are constantly added to. You can ask on the forums if you can't find the one you need.

Anyone have any cheap and quality player recommenations?

My Goodmans player is good (...) but, before I put in a NTSC disc, I have to press the PAL/NTSC button on the remote. It can't be done when a disc is in. If I don't, the NTSC picture quality isn't great.

I find most codes are on this site dvd.reviewer.co.uk/ and there some good things there besides the codes. I would avoid Sony and a couple of other brands as they need chips, service discs or the us of muliti-remotes rather than straight forward hacks.

Before buying a new player checkout its model number on the net and you will most likely find a thread in an AV forum discussing how to unlock it. That way you won't have to pay extra to buy it pre-done. Most of the cheap Tesco ones are on these sites and some even get good write ups from users.

Richer Sounds normally have a good selection of multi-region players. Most of which are slightly older models but have usually had 4 and 5 star reviews in the big home cinema magazines.
