Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi has launched a Kickstarter campaign calling on people to help finance a 2.5-D action-adventure game called Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Koji Igarashi has set a of $500,000 on Kickstarter and has stated there are other funds in place. Here's more from the creators of the game:
Synopsis
You are Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist curse which slowly crystallizes your skin. You must battle your way through a demon-filled castle summoned by Gebel, your old friend whose body has become more crystal than flesh.
Koji Igarashi is most famous for being the man behind the Castlevania franchise, the famous action-adventure series that chronicled the struggle of the Belmont family against Dracula and his army of movie inspired monsters. The games are famous for side-scrolling exploration-focussed gameplay featuring RPG elements. Since the release of the first game in 1986 it has become one of the world’s most famous game franchises with numerous entries and it was one of Konami’s biggest earners. Despite this success, in 2013 Koj Igarashi left Konami but the desire to create games in the Castlevania mould burns bright and the man has teamed up with Mighty No. 9 developer Inti Creates to create Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
If funded, the game will be developed for XBOX One, Playstation 4, and PC. According to the Kickstarter page this will be the first time on Kickstarter that backers will have the option to receive actual PS4 / XB1 / PC retail discs. The physical copy of the game will include exclusive Kickstarter-only content:

The mighty swordwhip

A super-powerful hidden boss

A Kickstarter Edition slipcase

There are many rewards for backers ranging from simple thanks from Igarashi at $5 all the way to hanging out with the legend in Japan at $10,000. There are a number of stretch goals including an art book at $600,000 and voice acting from David (Solid Snake) Hayter at $850,000. There are also “backer achievements” that will be unveiled when people join and contribute on various social media platforms:

There is a lot going on but Igarash has help from Inti Creates, the videogame development house made up of ex-Capcom staff who brought out another Kickstarter game, the critically acclaimed Mighty No. 9.The former Capcom devs will be joined by former Konami stars such as Castlevania composer Michiru Yamane.
At the time of writing there is $325,065 pledged of $500,000 with 32 days to go. That number is increasing all the time and it looks set to smash its target ! Find out more on the Kickstarter page!
