Bakemonogatari Release Mix Up

MVM have contacted Anime UK News with information surrounding a mix up of discs with its newest release Bakemonogatari. Due to a mistake at the manufacturer, early copies of Bakemonogatari have been shipped containing discs for Shana. In a statement, MVM said:

"Unfortunately our manufacturers packed the wrong discs (Shana) into the Bakemonogatari Pt1 box.

This was spotted a week before release date but some stock had already shipped to major mail order retailers. Although these retailers have been advised of a product recall some units may have shipped to customers. Any customer receiving this product should seek a refund from their retailer.

Bakemononogatari Pt 1 will now be released on 1st July with new barcode and catalogue number (MVD2324). This is the only way to ensure bad stock does not get mixed with new good stock.

This only effects mail order retailers as bad stock was stopped in time before going to high street stores such as HMV.

Apologies for any inconvenience. This has been something of a nightmare for us too."

Just to reiterate MVM’s statement, some of the recently released Bakemonogatari DVD sets have the wrong discs. The easiest way to spot if you have the right release is to make sure that the spine of the case has the code MVD2324. If you find the wrong code then you should seek a refund from the retailer.

Imagine my surprise and horror when I see this piece of news after receiving my supposed Bakemonogatari DVD in the post. I got Shana. What's a Shana? Will I ever watch it? Oh well, pay day soon. Roll on July and an actual release for Bakemonogatari.

If it was another company they'd just say you could return it for something else if you didn't like Shana ;p

MVM have been doing their best to own up and get this sorted out so I don't think they deserve much criticism for what amounts to an annoying human error somewhere in the production chain.

A lot of the blame for inconveniencing customers lies with Amazon etc, if it is true that they ignored the recall and shipped stuff out regardless.

Can I choose to take his sort-of-ambiguous remark the opposite way and assume he's praising MVM for dealing with the problem as best as they can?

I was thinking the same, he clearly thinks they are awesome

I mean they are even printing new sleeves with the new serial number when they could of perhaps got away with a recall, it shows they do want to get things right.

On another note I was slightly disappointed when looking at MYM and Neos reviews for the series, but given there's been a whole slew of review scores I've not agreed with I think it's safe to say those Mags are not for me.

Do what you want. I don't care for the affairs for a company that can't keep it's manufacturing arm in check.

You know said manufacturing company would probably be pretty offended if MvM stopped by every couple of days and said they wanted to check they had popped the right discs in the right boxes.

Some things you maintain a tight watch on while other things you have to have some faith on, especially as this is the first time such a mix up has occurred.

Compared to how much Kaze and Manga crapness had happened in the past, MVM are always the ones you can trust. It's just one mistake. Sure it won't happen again.
