Yep, got yours. I guess I should reply to people to confirm that I have seen their list.

Thinking about what Stu said, I will call an early end to the voting if I go a full week without receiving any votes. I will post to say if it gets to three days, and then five days, and probably again on the seventh day to allow anyone to say "still thinking, will vote though".
 
Although One Piece began at the end of October 1999 in Japan, I thought that it should be allowed to be counted considering it has continued without fail throughout the whole decade. Can a verdict on this be posted here please, so that people can know whether or not that can vote for it? :D
 
This thread piqued my interest and I went on a bit of a google trawl last night looking through sites top anime of the decade lists.

I was saddened to see that the anime which resonated most with me and impressed me the most over the last decade (thus my number 1) was not in many lists =[

There would no no year zero because of different dating systems. When a baby is born, it doesn't start at 1. The actual answer to this will never be known, however. And of course it is about encapsulating a time period - its a Best Of list, we're making a compilation of the best stuff in a 10 year time period.

Also, if we go by your rules, we miss out on the Year 2000. Not sure if anyone has used the year 2000, but their list may be incorrect if we're doing it that way.

He didn't ask for the best of the 00s. He asked for the best of the decade. I'm just correcting you because you seem to have missed the point of this thread by pointing out something so pedantic and insignificant.

I may need to wait until near the end of January to complete my list so I can decide whether to include Eden of the East in it (I have the bd version but have yet to watch it - I currently have a fair bit of anime to get through and I prioritize discs that have marks on them first so EotE is going to have to wait for the time being).

As for arguments over the period I have started at the year 2000 and have counted until 2009 (10 years).

This fact is heartbreaking. F*cking One Piece belonging to the other decade.

The list I've developed is a mix between personal favourites, overall quality and things that have ingrained itself into pop culture forever. I'm fairly happy with it. I think.
 
To answer a few questions, some of which I had replied to via PM but might as well post in here:

I would rather there was no speculation of shows or finishing positions until voting is closed, I wouldn't want it to affect any remaining votes in any subconcious way.

I said "no" to One Piece.

Mangaman: If I go a few days without receiving votes and post to say as such, all it will take is a PM or post to say "still thinking, will vote", and then I will continue to wait, even if you don't have your vote ready until the end of the period. As for the time period thing, people are free to set their own personal limitations *within* the ones in the first post, but I will still continue accept anything that started, say, this year.

Yes, I lolled a little at 8) ["8 )" without the space for anyone who is having an extremely slow day]. ^_^

Yes, you can update your vote if you like. If you do wish to, please replicate the title of your initial PM but include the word UPDATE before it so that I can easily pick it out. Also, kindly quote your original list in the update PM, followed by your new, changed, list. Anyone abusing this community service will be sent a sad panda face in reply.
 
I vote that One Piece gets an 'honourable mention' in recognition of the fact it will be the only show to have ran for the entire decade. :D It may not get a rank, but how many other shows have run for this long? :D

I'll post up a "results thread" at the end of the voting period, and people can add in any write-in categories they like. Favorite character, "honorable mentions", whatever.

The ones I listed + Pokemon + Conan yep.
Doraemon had a ~ 1 month gap in '05, before season 3 (forgot the '73 series) starts. (changed lead seiyuu+ director)
Sazae-san has over 2000 eps for a reason.
 
I'd almost feel guilty voting in this given how little anime I've seen. Not guilty enough though, so I'll vote after some intensive anime-watching over the coming month.

Strangely enough I already think I know what I'll be voting for, but it's not going to be a top ten (which would be almost everything I've completed). Will keep it to one or two so I don't add too much bias to the results.

Is anyone trying to be objective with these or is everyone going with emotional resonance?
