Are there any JRPG collectors on here?

JRPG's these days basically bore me to tears in terms of story as they all seem to follow that medievil esque tone and feature all this political ******** with some big bad who needs to be owned from dominating the world. I tend to like the JRPG's that although contain the same sort of world doom ****, also be different, such as the shadow hearts series, legend of dragoon, wild arms or the SMT games.
Then stop playing Final Fantasy and play Shin Megami Tensei instead. :)

Hmm... I 'can' be a JRPG collector, if there's a old JRPG (NTSC or PAL) that caught my interest or I regret 'not' playing and I try my very hardest to get the game. Mind you, I've only import PS1 games because my Playstation is modded (used to play copies a lot in my young days).

My first 'proper' imported game is Chrono Cross, which I imported last month. Suffice to say, I loved Chrono Cross. Not as good as Trigger, but still awesome.

I do collect other JRPGs, my main priority and first always is the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Then I collect Shadow Hearts.

I need to collect other RPGs, though =P

I'm hoping the Xenosaga series will impress me on the story front. I've read that the Xenosaga games are more like CG movies than games

That is most true, back when i was playing Xenosaga 2 it felt like every five mins i was walking into a cutscene.

Random question: Is there anyway to get PS2 settings to stick? I'm currently playing Lunar 2 and in, in order to avoid slight lag, I need the PS1 driver speed testing changed from 'normal' to 'fast'. It's a pain to need to keep changing the setting before playing...

Was the story difficult to follow? I'm a bit worried since the story of the spiritual prequel, Xenogears, was a nightmare on the comprehension front.

I own the entire series (2 copies of XI, actually), so I'll no doubt get around to playing them eventually. It's going to be a pain playing through XIII since my PS2 keeps freezing up during its cut-scenes for whatever reason, forcing me to skip. In order to play it, I'd need to watch all the cut-scenes on Youtube or something...

The plot was relatively easy to follow...after i sat through the bonus disc (which was all of Xenosaga 1s main cutscenes) but there was still times when i felt like it was still throwing names and places at me and expecting me to know what they meant off the bat.

Xenosaga I & III both have a colossal database containing a scary amount of information about characters, events, places, and terms. Alas, it was left out of the second installment, making it even tougher for those who jumped in there to understand the finer details. Xenosaga's world and mythos is meticulously contstructed, which is one of the reasons I love it. The story is impressive, if somewhat annoyingly obfuscated at times, not least for its epic scope.
