Are Aniplex titles impossible to import?

Okay so a while back I got the US Gurran Lagann set and now I want to get both movies. Problem is that both GL movies were released by Aniplex and I've heard they make it very hard to import anything outside of the US. Is this true?
 
Due to licensing restrictions, RightStuf can only send the Gurren Lagann movies to the United States and Canada. However, they are available on UP1.co.uk here and here.
