Apparently InuYasha airs (or did air) on BBC 2 and CBBC

Apparently, according to Wikipedia (where I know sometimes information can be falsified), Inuyasha was or IS aired on CBBC and BBC 2.. is this really true?? I use to be a massive fan of the series when I was a teen, and had to rely on Importing the DVD's as I live in the UK... but if it has now FINALLY after so many years made its way over to the UK tv screen I might watch it.. although if it has NO doubt it has been heavily edited.

I've looked on the web and nothing for the InuYasha series has come up elsewhere apart from the disastrous DVD release from Fabulous in 2007.

Thought it was total bulls**t. The chances of that series ever seeing airplay are long and passed. Not to mention also the anime is now about 15 years old. Classic.

Yeah I can't see anything else online about it.

The only anime I can definitely remember airing on CBBC as opposed to ITV was Monster Rancher.

Urusei Yatsura had a couple of episodes on BBC2 once upon a time, or was it BBC3/Choice. That's the only Rumiko Takahashi creation to see a UK TV broadcast.

Although that was a spoof thing though? They were just dubbing it live on the spot with whatever, without actually translating the official Japanese? It is funny though!

BBC Two/CBBC used to show the English dub of the early 2000s Astro Boy. I remember really liking it at the time, but I've not seen it since, I might get that cheap US dub-only re-release from earlier in the year, just to see if it holds up.

If you count Franco-Japan co-pros, then MCOG and Ulysses 31 were CBBC shows.

--edit--

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has CBBC ever been on BBC2? It was always BBC1 in my day (although I was mostly a CITV kid).
Here's the diff where it was added: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =662715361

The user has since been blocked indefinitely. Made-up broadcast data appears to be their modus operandi, so I have removed it.

I believe so, when I was younger.

I didn't know they showed it as late as 2007, I remember watching in the early '00s. Sony Pictures held global rights, which is why it got a good push and why there's insanely cheap DVD re-releases out now. Although it seems to be very difficult to find subbed versions of the series now as the US releases are both dub only (I think).

But, at like $5, Mill Creek Entertainment are on to a winner...

CBBC used to shift to BBC2 on special occasions, usually once a year for the budget speech, breaking important news stories, and the odd royal wedding. But it was a rare thing indeed.

Early 00s was definitely the peak period for anime on British telly, coming off the back of Pokemon, then Digimon and on to Cardcaptor Sakura.

I remember being annoyed when ITV stopped showing Digimon and the later series were only on Cartoon Network as I didn't have satellite/cable and couldn't watch them.

What was that anime channel called again? I think they were a bit later, but they probably managed the most concentrated run of things in the UK, despite their short life.

There was also a UK version of The Anime Network (Propeller TV), and didn't they also do some anime on Popgirl?
None of them were available on cable so I never experienced any of them.

Some anime aired on Pop Girl (Most notiably the YTV incantation of the first PreCure series) but they also shared bandwith with Anime Central's test airings which aired the first five episodes of Headmasters on loop.
