any1 recomend a good oav

3x3 was one of the first anime i ever bought... it was on vhs. i sold because i began to despise vhs'....... ah i remember it fondly. it was really good anime
 
Macross Plus is great stuff IMO. Packaging is crappy as, but it's a quality mecha OAV (and a Movie version of the same thing, which you also get in the Manga package) that is as much of a romance and rivalry story as it is about transforming robots bashing each other up.
 
Short? Well the unholy trinity of scrazyness of Puni Puni Poemi, Dead Leaves and Dragonhalf can all be watched in under three hours total.

(and yes i know DH isn't technically an OVA, but it fits the criteria with hindsight)

However if you want my FAVORITE OVA then that has got to be Orguss 02. Mecha, A constructed language, and a very well thought out story. great stuff.
 
Gainax's six part masterpieces FLCL (import) and Gunbuster are my two personal faves, although Gunbuster's just been relicenced so you might do well to wait for the new edition. In terms of the cream of sci-fi Drama that's actually readily available over here, Macross Plus is hard to beat.

Riding Bean (which I reviewed recently) is a good short blast of mindless entertainment. Tough guy+cool car chases=lots of fun. :D

i think i'll give macross a try... every1 seems to like it. also am dyin to see 3x3 eyes again...

oh and im also gonna give vampire princess a try... been really into vampire anime lately
 
After finishing R.O.D. the TV this evening I remembered how goddamned good the Read or Die prequel OAV is. Engaging characters, superb animation, fast pacing and the soundtrack kicks. Excellent stuff.

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal (aka Rurouni Kenshin: TsuiokuHen). Four part, two DVD release of the best samurai action we've seen in a long time. Macross Plus, ROD and Gunsmith Cats are also recommended.
