Annoying ads V2 - Internet edition!

Will-O'-The-Wisp

Remember last browsing the interwebs and stumbling accross some advert at the side that made you stop and look, not because it's so convincing, but because it's so stupid you wonder how the idiots that fall for it manage to breathe? This thread is for those.

Not sure about you but the one that's really made me laugh and rage at the same time are those Evony browser game ads. They started from the usual internet advert hammering on about how many players are apart of it etc. Then they gradually got more saucy and just featured a pair of boobs. Now, they've gone and photoshopped models from mens magazines onto and advert with a caption below saying you can play discreetley (I know I spelt that wrong). What are they advertising again?

I'm not going to bring up a picture of them, not because I think you're idiots, but some of the guy members might not be able to resist D:

Your turn ^^

Any ad that tricks gullible people into thinking it's personal to them. Sadly (and bafflingly) they must work because they've been around for years:

"You are 999,999,999th customer! No joke! Click here!"

"You have 1 new message. Click here to read."

And those little pop-ups in the right hand corner that make it look like someone wants to start an MSN chat.

There's also those ads with the painfully easy mini games.

"Shoot three ducks to win an iPod Nano!"

Erm... I don't think so. MAL sadly is being more and more over run by adverts these days. Tis a shame.

Thanks but the problem occurs more at work with these amazing unsecure internat connection. lol Haven't used Firefox for a while either. Used to swear by it.

Don't do that do this!!! NEWGROUNDS has more in it than a tesco price party popper! Saved me from Boredom, many a time. Plus... it doesn't like to force ads on you either (just to keep it on topic).
:p

What about halving your body weight by simply 'obeying'?
The image of a rapidly-deflating woman eventually ceases to be disconcerting, and becomes merely annoying.

Aye, that is indeed one of the main examples. I wouldn't mind so much, but the pictures of the "bad" teeth they include are fecking gross

their only on porn websites ayase..........tut tut :p

The ones with sound also wind me up...the mosquito ones are the worst, i remember clicking through the interwebs one day and one of those annoying pop ups- the old fashioned ones that opened up new web pages of their own and sat in the background innocently until you realise you've been had again.....well one had a "squash the mostquito 3 times to win"

Sometimes, out of boredom....i'll click twice just to "kill" the annoying pop up.

similar.....but i hate it when you click a link and it'll redirect you to a website about loans....or car insurance.....or the worst one i had was, it redirected me to a page and across the top of the page read "Increase your size by 4inch in 2 weeks!"

¬_¬ i don't need the extra 4 inch....sod off.

The google pays me for doing X ones and the get cut in a couple of weeks ones as well in one the guy has had so much ink work done that has healed between the two pictures there is no way it could only be a few weeks.

I would block flash ads, but that would require doing a lot of busy work every time I wanted to watch stuff on Youtube. On that note, I have an addon that replaces the standard Youtube player with the embedded version of the Youtube player. The main purpose is to stop videos playing automatically, but a nice side effect is that it gets rid of ads on Youtube videos. I also have AdBlock Plus, but that doesn't seem to be as effective as it used to be.
