Aniplex Possible Licensing for Madoka and Bakemonogari

For those who are wondering about if bakemonogatari and Madoka will ever get licensed, you may want to look at this at the bottom page:

It says at the bottom: "During its panel, Aniplex acknowledged that negotiations are ongoing for licensing both Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Bakemonogatari. Aniplex added, "Stay tuned."

So there are chances that it will be licensed very very soon, dunno where else to put this, so I'd thought I'd make a thread on it.
 
Whoever gets them better do Blu-ray. Bakemonogatari in particular. I'll be refusing to buy that if it's DVD only.

I think Aniplex are the most capable and most likely people to release it, they released Kara no Kyoukai, Read or Die and Baccano on Blu-rays so the chances of it being blu-ray are very high.

The announcement was it was being licensed. That means it's not Aniplex putting it out. Aniplex are who it is being licensed from (they made both the shows).
 
There wasn't even an announcement as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure negotiations for Bake have been "going on" for eighteen months now.

But all the American distro's denied this.
ANN has been along the lines of it won't sell, it's too Japanese, expect it's been passed up by everyone (at least at current price).

This was good news in that shows that are actualy good (not the cheap crap that FUNi put out 90% of the time) were getting licensed. "It was good, so it will never get licnesed" is not a state of afairs that's in anyway good for the industry long term.
 
lol, as always, making sensible assumptions along the lines of regressing to the mean > listening to PR lies. "It won't sell it's too Japanese" is obvious code for "we want to licence it for far less than Japan expects". This is still "negotiation going on" it's just negotiation that will go nowhere, as this current round might, and as it might for the next 18 months with Madoka.
 
I have to agree with ilmaestro here. They might not be the most serious negotiations they have going, but I'm positive at least someone is checking in, emailing, and trying to work the best possible way to score material like this other here (or there). Makes zero sense to give up entirely on something so huge.

It might seem to, but it does happen. Like with almost the entirety of Macross. That's mostly due to the music licences being all over the place and not being practicaly replacable.
There's also cases where the international rights have ended up with someone that simply doesn't licence. That's what just happened with Yurusei Yatsura, but it's more a problem with old shows and the rights being transfered back to the actual creators with licences expiring.
 
Some people might still be checking in on them shows. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Andrew occasionally sent a few emails around about some of the long dead and troublesome things like that.
