hey ive been seein things like R0 R1 R2, and was wonderin what they mean if anyone could tell me

And just to elaborate, different areas of the world have different codes for watching DVDs. For example, the UK and Japan have Region 2, whereas the US and Canada have Region 1. This usually means you can't watch DVDs that have a different region code to your DVD player.

ah, cool thanks...... wouldnt it be common sense for japan to be R1 since just about all anime originates there? ah well

DVD regions aren't anime terms, they're DVD terms.

These are the Blu-ray codes, if you're interested; HD-DVD is region free.

And if you're looking at an anime DVD that's Region 0, or Region Free, that's a surefire way of telling it's a bootleg. So don't bother with it.
