I really should buy Touch.

Have you seen Touch? Or Cross Game?
I have, yes, two of my absolute favorite series. Although, it is hard to make a series that includes baseball that I don't like.

huh, I watched Cross Game around this time last year and then Touch over the summer. Whilst Cross Game quickly went into my favourites I came out of Touch extremely disappointed with it.

Seeing as the chances of anyone picking it up for a proper English release continue to be nil (prove me wrong, Discotek!), I'm rather sorry I passed up the R2J release for the Cobra tv series. Not only did they squeeze in the English-language pilot episode, but the box had a little statuette of the of psychogun included with it.

I also really wish I'd bought the later seasons of City Hunter before they started selling for silly money. It's not a tough show to watch raw, so I'm thinking I might as well just buy the Japanese release and be done with it.

Interesting, you're not the first person I've seen say that. I had read and seen Touch before Cross Game, so maybe that has something to do with it. I do possibly prefer Cross Game, though, the baseball side of the drama is perfectly judged.

If you are going to watch those show with Japanese audio and no subs, then you can buy the French releases, so you save a good amount of money:
Cobra
City Hunter

Teo

That is a possibility - I got into both series originally by watching them on a French-language tv channel. Might need to do some reading up to check for any edits though.

Interesting to see France got a DVD/BD release of the new Cobra series as well.

never saw them too but i heard good things about them.

One thing i would like to have is unlicensed r2 stuff like hajime no ippo and shura no toki among others.

Peace Maker Kurogane its in my wishlist too but the packages i see are too expensive for its age.

I think my opinion is pretty easy to explain.

Touch has far worse pacing, having double the number of episodes but no more character development in it. It also seems to hit a total standstill with both the plot and characters between episodes 60 and 90.

My other major issue with it was the way several conflicts in the show were dropped. Conflicts which would have served well in distinguishing it from Cross Game. As it is almost all the plot threads featured in Touch that were resolved also appeared in Cross Game. I was especially disappointed with how they handled Kazuya.

Well, that kind of feeds back into the order you read/watched them in, then. Touch doesn't "need" to distinguish itself from Cross Game, really, it's the other way around. :p But I understand your other concerns.

Not watched either of Touch or Cross Game but the Cross Game manga is good. If either became available on dvd/blu-ray I'd get them.

Other series I would like,
Kimagure Orange Road TV Series (currently OOP)
Urusei Yatsura TV Series (currently OOP)

If we're talking wishlists of shows that haven't been released in the west, I'd really have liked to own a copy of Bakemonogatari, but I can't imagine it working with anything other than the original voices, and with the amount of text walls, it'd either need to come with a booklet to translate, or would require BD and a lot of sub work!
