Is the Black Cat anime any good? I've enjoyed what I've read of the manga.
despite it, you know, being cowboy bebop

Yeh, I liked Black Cat, just watched it recently. I put a few more thoughts in the 'Rate the last anime you watched' thread. I gave it 8/10. On a side-note, I dropped Cowoy Bebop about half way ages ago, cuz it was rubbish...*ducks* So I dunno what you mean by them being the same...*ducks again*.

On topic: I was hoping MVM would do a Saiyuki Reload collection, but I was also hoping they would release Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload Gunlock. ¬.¬

Wow Usmellmay, just wow. You have really helped contribute to this topic with that informative post.

OT: I'll be interested in the GITS stuff. However, 40 quid isn't a nice price. Is there more infomation on what we get for our money?

You get the first movie with loads of colour filters and soft focus plus loads of CGI added that looks out of place no matter what they do. That's enough to make me leave it alone.

Yeah. For 40 quid that doesn't sound great. I do love to buy my GITS stuff blindly though... ;)

I'll just wait for a reduced price.

I will also be going for GitS 2.0; regardless of what anyone says, I enjoyed it. If not for the, admittedly, slightly out of place CGI, for the cleaned up artwork of the rest of it.

:? Where did you get that price from? It's more like £12 on HMV, Play and Amazon.

There will be a release of a movies GITS boxset with 4 dvds, but I think it's 30, not 40.
I'll try to dig the extra list, which might interest you guys.

In summary: a remake of an over-rated film and bunch of over-priced, average anime have had release dates changed? Must read stuff, this.

MVM are boring me. The BL box sets aside, there's nothing I want from them getting released soon, and the stuff I do want is going to be £10 for a disc. Don't they have the license for Moribito? They should hurry up and get a box set out before 2011.

(I also want RxJ - like with DtB, I put it on-hold and want to finish it on DVD - but they'll probably turn the Funimation releases into singles.)

I hope Manga have strong replacements for Claymore and DtB planned to be released next year. I haven't been keeping up with series weekly since Death Note, so I'm looking forward to seeing what unwatched **** they license.

I'm sure they have Honey and Clover as part of their licensing deal with Viz. That means they might also release Nana and Monster.

On the Funimation side there could be Spice & Wolf and some other stuff.

Honey and Clover - highly rated college slice-of-life I want to watch.

Nana - an anime I want to buy for reasonable, non-Viz prices.

Monster - an epic anime I want to own on DVD.

Spice & Wolf - a must own series.

I can't see Manga going near any of 'em, though. H&C doesn't have enough blood/death, ditto for Nana (plus it's long), Monster is too long and too mature to be a seller and S&W is too good to be sold for £11.99.

Manga's top series, the ones they try to get the most money for, are always action packed or full of death. Shounen +1 types. It's possible H&C might get a two volume release, but as for the long ones and the short, too-good-to-given-away one...

I think Manga will only for retarded or action packed/lots of death titles.

...oh, I forgot: Manga have D.Gray-man lined up for next year. That's one slot gone, and the series is average shounen fare.

Ouran has been doing well for them so there's clearly a market for more female-oriented series (H&C is josei). Nana and Monster may be too lengthy. No idea about Spice and Wolf... that could go either way.

Now that I remember D.Gray-man, I think that and Soul Eater will replace 'em. Two 6-7/10 shounen titles.

I don't know a lot about Ouran, but seeing the cover art and its fan love makes me think the humour is on the silly side of the fence. I'm assuming a lot here but it doesn't strike me as an adult, Genshiken type of comedy.
