You better watch out and you better no hide, because Anime Limited Claus is coming to bring more announcements!

They brought us a few new acquisitions like Studio 4°C's Genius Party/Genius Party Beyond and Sunrise's Buddy Complex and Eureka Seven.

We’ve had some great announcements over the past week but we have one more to share with you that we’re super excited tell you about. Today we are delighted to announce that we (Anime Limited) are bringing the original Fullmetal Alchemist series to the UK on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray.

Synopsis: After losing their mother, Alphonse and Edward Elric attempt to bring her back using the forbidden science of human alchemy. However, alchemy operates on the theory of equivalent trade, and breaking the human alchemy taboo carries a heavy price. Ed loses his leg, and Al loses his body. Ed is able to seal Al’s soul inside of a huge suit of armor, at the cost of his arm. Years later, Ed (now with two mechanical limbs) and Al (still trapped in the armor) leave their childhood home, each brother concerned with the other’s happiness. Ed, who has a natural talent and skill for alchemy, becomes nationally certified and is soon known everywhere as the “Fullmetal Alchemist.”

Their true objective is to search for any information on the fabled Philosopher’s Stone, hoping it will allow them to regain their old bodies. All of their hopes rest with this mythical stone, which may not even exist at all. However, the brothers soon learn that they are not the only ones after the powerful stone.

“The original Fullmetal Alchemist has a strong place in all of our hearts here at Anime Limited” says Andrew Partridge, President of Anime Limited. “It’s a show that for many people in the UK was a gateway into anime, and after being out-of-print for a long time what better way to celebrate it having been a decade since the series received it’s first release in the UK, yes it has been that long, than being able to bring the series out on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray. Well there is one way we can think of; an Ultimate Edition Blu-ray set.”

The original Fullmetal Alchemist series will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016. More details will be forthcoming so please tuned accordingly for those.

Signing out~!

This'll be a tough one to decide whether to buy or not. I have Brotherhood, and despite me thinking that the 03 series is superior with regards to one crucial detail (the homunculi being the result of human transmutations) it falls short in every other way and I can't see myself watching it in full again.

I've known about this for a while which has made the decision whether to import the US set or not even more difficult X_X
On one hand I really want to watch the show as I've never seen the 03 series (nor finished Brotherhood), but I also want to see what Andrew has up his sleeve.

I'll most likely end up getting this, although I do wonder if I'll ever get around to watching it again. It was pretty much the show that got me into anime and I have fond memories of it, I expect it would stand up well to re-watching and it might even be improved but there's an awful lot of new stuff to watch and I wonder if I'd be able to motivate myself to set aside the time.

I guess maybe it'd be a good simulwatch candidate.

I won't get this one because I purchased the US "suitcase" edition a few months back, but if I hadn't, I'd be all over this, it's great for the UK, AL is on a roll!

Hooray! FMA is still my all time favourite anime (in both forms) so great to see it back in the UK. Alas, had I known about this a few months ago I wouldn't have imported the Funi Collector's set, but it'll be interesting to see what AL have up their sleeves for the Ultimate Edition.

I use FMA to introduce people to anime, so getting the original series added as an option on Netflix UK there would be awesome. Andrew, if you're reading, any chance of that happening?

Ahh sweet... but do I cancel the suitcase US edition which amazon is yet to ship or double dip... I get the feeling that both editions will have something unique to offer...

Highly interested in seeing what AL put together for this release. It's something which desperately needed to be back in print and properly promoted in the UK so I hope that it will do well :)

Was planning to import the US set, but I'll wait for AL's release now. :)

Guessing they'll use a different artbox, so that it matches with the UE size. Hope they can get the artbook, though.

Gonna have to see how funds are and what the extras are, but it's great to see this show available again. It took me ages to find a set of the original (singles!) release.

Looking in to the US Collectors edition, a 300 page artbook(!) AL have never done one that big, I hope we get it!

If AL they keep the new UE design (amarays) we'll miss out on the amazing looking artbox that the set got ( unless they blow it up in size!), but there are loads of great looking covered from the original 13 volumes that i'd like to see re-used on the 3 amarays we'll likely get.
