UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Definitely getting Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Diebuster and Perfect Blue in their collector's format. Dangers in My Heart has a similar number of pages to the Sentai Steelbook but looking at the photos it looks to be a modified version (which probably re-arranges them around to fit the page count). Either way I'll look into it as I am interested in owning the series.

Cyberpunk, Perfect Blue and Diebuster for me in October.

Unfortunately the early bird for Cyberpunk ends before my next pay day so like with DAN DA DAN I'll have to wait for an early bird redux during the Christmas sale hopefully.

I'll be picking up Perfect Blue 4K and Diebuster more than likely though depending on funds, Diebuster more than anything though if I have to choose one.

How many re-releases does Perfect Blue need? AL has given it a standard blu-ray release, Steelbook blu-ray release, Collector's Edition blu-ray release, Ultimate Edition blu-ray release and now a 4K + UHD blu-ray release.

And once again absolutely nothing for me. My bank account rejoices while I weep.

This re-release is extremely welcome unlike most of the others. Before this year the only source material available was a broadcast digibeta for Perfect Blue as the masters were lost. I believe this 4K version is done from a 16mm print.

Even with the Japanese 4K release being SDR there is a lot more colour detail than the bluray. It's also colour graded a bit darker so the detail doesn't get blown out as much

At what time of the day GMT do the Earlybirds usually post and also end? I will need to order both Diebuster and Perfect Blue together in one order since it costs me £25 shipping per order to the US. The Perfect Blue Earlybird ends on the 16 October and the Diebuster Earlybird starts on the 16th, so I will have to place my order sometime that day, inside the short time window the two titles will both be discounted.

I plan to add a couple of other in-stock CE titles too, to help split that shipping cost across more items - even though they will all have to be held from shipping until Perfect Blue is out in December.

They won't be able at the EB price together unfortunately as PB will end when Diebuster starts.

EBs normally go up at 5pm GMT/BST which would normally be 12pm ET/EST, 11 CT/CST.

Agreed. If there are films that deserve 4K upgrades/restorations, then one of them is for sure Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue. I would argue one of the greatest animated films ever.

Additionally, as far as I can see, the last Blu-ray release for Perfect Blue in the UK was a while ago, in 2019, which was the pricier ultimate edition.

Actually, most of AL recent EB have gone live before 5pm. So there may be a chance to order both together, if Girls with Guns is able to check a couple of hours earlier.

That's more like it from AL. Interesting stuff I haven't already imported months or a year or more ago (apart from Dangers in my Heart).

Perfect Blue is the pick of the bunch. A fantastic looking set and finally a decent visual presentation for a truly great film. Same release date as Devilman 🤔 I'm not convinced we'll get either before Christmas, but at least they're coming.

Digibeta is SD. The old HD master is from a noisy CRT telecine probably intended for HDTV broadcast. It didn't get a new remaster from the 35mm film until recently probably due to lack of interest from the parties involved.

I wonder if the frame glitch early on in the Japanese and Italian release is fixed.

That reminds me, I think Manga Entertainment put it out on PSP UMD...
They did. They also released Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop.
