UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

the tracking information still hasn't changed, still just say's there expecting it. has anyone else received there copy of bleach vol-2?

That's still very normal over Christmas time. I haven't received my Bleach volume 2 either, so don't worry.

It will be sat in a cage waiting to be scanned in - the issue is, RM get new parcels every single day to deal with, and they'll prioritise newly arrived parcels to scan in, over ones that have been sat there for a few days.

Just give it time for them to work through the backlogs and it'll get scanned and eventually be with you.

Did AL ever announce if they are doing a replacement for the A Place Further defective discs? Shout are apparently offering replacement discs for the US version of the CE, which would be weird if AL never offered the same to their UK customers.

I've been trying to contact AL about getting a replacement disc for my CE set, but no response (of course) after multiple emails, and I've been trying for months too. I even tried @'ing them on Twitter - not even a peep. Their customer service is seemingly non existent.

Is there a webpage where Shout are offering the replacement service? If so, it may be worth linking to that when trying to get a corrected disc from AL.

I own this set and it is the first I have heard about it, what is the defect?

This is outrageous, why do they think they can act like this? Even the worst companies I have used have someone from customer service at least pretend the care about a problem. The more I hear about this company the less I like them!

I believe on the English dub, in episode 10, there is a missing piece of dialogue that cannot be heard.

I try and appreciate the fact that they are a relatively small company and whatnot, but Anime Limited are the only company I never get a response from when trying to contact their customer service, no matter how many emails I send.

I've tried their email address multiple times. This evening, I've sent them another message about this using their contact page on their website, so we'll see if that makes a difference - but I doubt I'll get a response just because it's a busy period for them.

AL stopped answering to emails etc. somewhere around last year. I tried to contact them about a package/order that arrived in damaged condition and they never answered. I sent them multiple emails and no answer. One day I just suddenly got a notification from my local post office that a package is arriving and I should pay the taxes for it. It turned out AL had indeed sent me a replacement but they just never bothered to let me know about it.

That seems a bit unfair on you having to pay all that on a replacement for a product that was damaged by someone other than you. And AL should have notified you themselves. I don't hate the company but they've def gone downhill somewhat recently, and it's sad :(

You are obviously too nice a person.
I still remember their lack of customer service when you didn't receive a parcel at the beginning of the year.

I would have held a life long grudge 😇

In case anyone from Anime Limited reads this thread, I hope the following feedback is helpful.

I've had one box set and two BOGOF titles in my basket for a while now, waiting for short-notice items to appear in the sale so I can get the total to £50 for free shipping.

I just got the Great Pretender box set - but of course, I can't use the 10% code on it (and the other box set I'm buying), because the code doesn't work on the BOGOF items. So in the end, I removed the two BOGOF disks so that I can apply the code just to the two box sets. In other words, sadly you lost a purchase from me because of the limitations of your system (or at least, the third party you use).

I hope you'll be able to use this knowledge to drive some positive change at the purchasing stage, because sadly you're losing money due to the current system.

(As a PS to that idea, I would like the BOGOF to be smart enough to match price-for-price titles. For example, if I have eight £10 BOGOFs and two £20 BOGOFs, I'd like one of the £20 ones to be discounted. At the moment it only matches on cheapest price. Sadly, all this does is make me remove the two £20 ones - so again, you lose a sale. At best, I have to remove the two £20 ones, and hope that I can then buy them again later as part of a second order - but then I run into the problem of not being able to use the code on that order because of the BOGOF items.)

Finally, in other threads I've mentioned an idea of giving buyers the option to "buy now, ship at the end of the sale" so that everything can be combined into one single package. This gives a ton of advantages, including cheaper costs for you and for us on shipping, as well as being better for the environment. It also fixes the BOGOF problem above, and is even a potential workaround to the discount code problem. I hope you'll consider it for the future.

Apparently the inability to stack other offer codes with BOGOF is a limitation of Shopify that Anime Limited themselves can't change. BOGOFs and similar deals only discounting the cheapest items is also standard across the retail industry.

When making my orders, I had separate orders for BOGOF titles worth £10 and those worth £20 to maximise the savings, and then had a third order to use the 10% code on stuff not included in BOGOF. It was fiddly and meant having to pay additional postage costs, but at least that way, the savings just absorbed that and then some.

Has anyone been able to order the Macross Plus Ultimate Edition without paying £50 extra for international shipping? I end up losing the free international shipping option whenever it's in my cart, regardless of the £150 threshold

Edit - AL on Facebook sorted it out, extra shipping charge removed :D

I still have my 10% code, so I could get Macross Plus for £108. That's still a hell of a lot for what amounts to four episodes and a book though. Between the cost of that UE and them licensing one of the more middling Macross titles with Zero, I do worry AL will get the wrong idea about interest in the franchise if they don't sell well. I would probably pay any stupid price they put on a Macross Frontier set.

"Customers can use a maximum of 5 discount codes on a single order."

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

To be fair on the BOGOF thing, I'm pretty sure literally every BOGOF I've ever encountered in my entire life gives you the cheapest item free, so I don't really blame AL for that one.

I've seen BOGOF offers in the past with other companies that match items based on price - but I take your point, there's plenty of BOGOF offers in the wild that are just "cheapest item free".

In a physical shop it isn't a problem because you can just put everything through as two or more separate transactions. Which is silly, and slows things down, but it isn't really a problem in the grand scheme of things. Just some extra admin to get around the implementation of the offer.

Different story for an online purchase. In total there was about £70 of BOGOF stuff that I was going to buy. Some were £9.99, some were £19.99. When I put everything of a similar price was into one order, neither group came to £50 to qualify for free shipping . I ended up not buying any of it. I've lost out, and AL have also lost out.

Totally avoidable in a number of ways, not least of which is the idea to "pay now, ship at the end of the sale" so that we can add items to the order through the lifecycle of the sale.

Bit miffed I missed out on the Black Lagoon restock while waiting for other sale items, but more than made up for it by grabbing the Genius Party, Arete and Maquia CEs which I thought were long OOP, as well as Macross Plus UE finally at a semi-reasonable £90 with the code and no VAT. Plus Kaiji S2, Parasyte, Princess Jellyfish in the mystery box and a few blind buys with Shirobako, Arslan and Penguindrum makes for a pretty big dent in my paycheck, but that's just how it goes in December 😁
