UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Unfortunately while that was our intention, approvals deemed we need to be consistent with our presentation of the first season.

I really think you should have fought to get rid of stacked digipacks.

Stacked digipacks are awful, you shouldn't even be considering them as an option, and I'm disappointed Andrew promised he'd get rid of them from future releases, only to not do so. I know it's not your fault, but I really want to make clear how much I absolutely despise them.

While Anime Limited and similar companies should definitely take on board feedback from members on this forum, in the end they can't adhere to our every whim especially when even on this tiny forum each poster has different preferences. Opportunity cost and all that.

As I'm not particularly familiar with the packaging production side of things I was just wondering if Andrew could clarify whether it would be possible to produce a small amount of the Zavi timed-exclusive Gurren Lagann sets without disks for any folks who have the ultimate set & are willing to pay for the alternative? I imagine doing a timed survey beforehand, either here or on the fb page and setting up a paypal link wouldn't be impossible, but I was curious whether you could actually get hold of any packaging without disks from the distributor? Even with my replacement digipack, the trays are starting to come loose with time, so if the alternative existed to pay £15-20 (or whatever the required amount was) without requiring to unnecessarily buy the disks again , I'd snap it up. At the very least it'd be nice for the set to fit on the shelf with my other standard sized editions ;)

Oh, and could you clarify whether the outer case will be the standard thick card of your normal collector releases or a thin slipcase as with the FMA standard blu rays? Judging by the quality of the artwork on display the set really feels like it deserves the former. Anyway, thanks for your time. ^^

You should just preorder it at Zavvi, it's already cheap enough.

Well - have you seen them for any other release :)? We never use them except in this case and because there's 4 BD25s to use instead of 2 BD50s there just. We tried another way but there was just no way to pass it through approvals and make the artwork look good in the process.

So this one is the last, we know it's hated and it is an absolute nuclear choice for us if we ever do it again - sorry for this one too folks.

Best,

AP

Andrew/Jeremy:

Is there a rough ETA for Prison School? Anime-On-Line has it down for 30th January but I have a sneeeeaking suspicion it won't make that date. I won't lose my **** even if you tell me it's three months off, so hit me with the unvarnished truth. I can take it.

There will be an update on Funimation titles in the newswire later this week.

Has anyone got their FMA certificate from Zavvi?

I sent them an email on Friday about it and was told to wait until the 9th as they were sent on the 22/12. Tried them again and they now say it was sent on Thursday.

That definitely remains an option although I'll wait to get confirmation on the type of packaging being used as I probably couldn't justify re-buying it for a thin card slipcase. Also, cheapness aside, I've had enough bad experiences with Zavvi on anything other than amarays that I'd wait for the exclusive deal to run out and pick one up from the AL or MVM store instead.

Btw, to clarify, my question about the possibility of disk-free packages came out of legitimate curiosity rather than an excuse to moan about double-dipping. I'm less bothered about having to buy the set again as I am feeling like owning a second set of unused disks feels like a waste of resources, although that might be a concern specific only to me :)

I haven't even tried the show yet despite owning the UE, and I've got a preorder in for the timed Zavvi exclusive. Unused disks really don't phase me.
