Last week Optimum Asia announced their plans to release a UMD version (PSP; PlayStation Portable) of their incoming CG-anime movie Appleseed and now Animetion.co.uk have also noticed that Manga Ent. UK are planning UMD versions of Akira, Ghost in the Shell (both are set for releases on 2nd Sept) and their Neon Genesis Evangelion movies (30th Sept).

Animazing also has plans to release their hentai movie (pornographic anime) La Blue Girl Returns to UMD (5th Sept).

The thing I want to know as far as this goes is about Mobile Suit Gundam.

Months back Bandai announced that they planned to release the original Mobile Suit Gundam series (in Japan as I believe) on UMD (and would not be releasing the series in its entirety on any other platform.) Does anybody have any more details and more specifically is it going to come to the UK?

Hmmm, thats pretty scary "Release Tension While On The Move" could be the advertising slogan.

Oh thank you so much for that mental image which I really really did not want.

Eeeep, I never had the greatest confidence in UMD and releasing such a 'highly acclaimed' title as La Blue Girl Returns does nothing to change my mind. ;)

Hay good to see some anime being released on the PSP, i think now i have even more of a reason to get a PSP, though not for La Blue Girls

I haven't heard anything about Beez releasing the original Mobile Suit Gundam series on DVD, so I assume a UMD version is completely out of the question right now. Vintage releases don't sell very well in the UK :(
