Animax UK Closing Service On 15th October

"Animax UK is the third anime streaming service to cease UK operations in recent years, following Viz Media Europe’s Anime On Demand (December 2013) and Anime Consortium Japan’s Daisuki (October 2017). "

What about Wakanim UK? Closed in 2015 I think.

Anyway, not at all surprised about this - they never took off, had all sorts of problems that only got worse as time went on, and hadn't licensed anything new for ages.

If you can't get the licenses then your not going to get very far. Hard to say whose more at fault, them or the industry's licensing practices.

I mean I didn't know Viz once tried over here and even they couldn't put a decent service together despite al, the properties they have access to? I can only imagine what went wrong.

Considering Sony now owns Funimation, this was inevitable really.

Not going to lie, I totally forgot about Wakanim because didn't they basically only simulcast Space Dandy and Kill la Kill (and maybe one more?) before jumping ship? They were probably the most short-lived.

Both seasons of Space Dandy, Kill la Kill, Zankyou no Terror, first season of Tokyo Ghoul, and Samurai Flamenco.
