Animax to finally reach the UK?

We're recieving rumours that Sony's Animax brand is finally set to launch in the UK in the very near future.
Animax already has it's channels in European countries such as German, Spain and Portugal and has oftern mentioned they'd like to launch the channel in the UK too.
At this moment in time it's only a strong rumour, even going as far as saying the channel will be free to view on Sky and Freeview, but we hope to clarify and get more information from Sony as the day goes on so keep checking back for any new updates.
Update 1: i've e-mailed the guy who alearted us to this news back, and am awaiting a reply, Being a @Sony.com e-mail address i'd assumed he was from the states, but since we've had no news back in 2 hours, it's likely he maybe a UK employee, so we may be waiting till the morning to get anything new
 
Update 2: Well some of you guess it, guess it was a little to good to be true, but either way Happy April fools day ;)
 
Hi everyone,

Just back from work and time off in Japan (TAF and a few other things, will no doubt write about them later) but I thought I'd just chime in. I know the people in charge of Animax for Europe, South Africa and Russia personally and I'm afraid I'd be very surprised if it rolls out in the UK anytime in the near future.

Not to say it *won't* ever roll out but right now in the immediate future I can say with certainty it's not on the cards...

Who knows what the next few years may bring though?

i have to say Andrew, you ruin a very good April fools joke ;) i was hoping to go a bit longer with a false statement but i guess that's too late now :(

ah well HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY
 
I must admit, i'm very cynical, being 01/04 but it still seems weird that europe has anime channels yet we dont.

I concur with this. Sony wants three channels on the Astra birds which are fully booked, though I think now they would be better off going toward the internet. It’s all going to fibre eventually.
 
Please don't become a reality. More false promises and high expectations ultimately destroyed.

EDIT: I actually fell for this. I didn't fall for my two friends saying they were having a baby together or this girl I know telling me she got laid off in work because she was pregnant and yet I fell for this.
