Animatsu Details Revealed

At this point in time, Animatsu is sounding more like a rebranding of Manga Entertainment UK than an entirely new entity to be honest. Hopefully that perception quickly changes.

That's my problem too. So far, it sounds as though they're offering Manga-style releases of content that people can already easily obtain from other countries. I think it's good to get as much content brought over to the UK for people who cannot/won't import, of course, and no doubt we'll end up getting lower prices out of the deal (and possibly faster turnarounds if this means fewer complexities for Jerome and his team to wrangle with behind the scenes), but if I ask myself what Animatsu is likely to do for me, right now the only answer I'm getting is 'nothing'.

From the perspective of someone who only buys UK releases, I appreciate that things look very different and having a new version of Manga UK with more freedom to react to fan demand is a very positive move. Perhaps they'll surprise me and start adding more value for UK customers too, like Anime Limited do with their super-speedy releases and premium editions to compete with international offerings.

(I never even knew Halo Nightfall existed before this thread, let alone that information on their products was already out there.)

'From executive Producer Ridley Scott'. That's usually the sort of thing they put when there's nothing better to say it's basically saying "Look this famous Director who threw money at it". I love the Halo games but the universe just doesn't translate well into film/tv. I guess with the franchise popularity it's a pretty safe bet for Animatsu though.

I'd love to see some old licenses brought back by somebody. There's a lot of out of print stuff that sorely needs to come back as it's still popular & highly in demand going by the prices/buyer retention.

What is interesting is the "special interest licensing", wonder what that might be? Things like RWBY? Classic cartoons?

Maybe they can do what Madman did in Austrailia and sublicense the likes of Adventure Time/Regular Show from WB and give them proper UK BD releases that are the same as the US/AU releases. Or if not at least try to release some stuff that never got to the UK anyway like Rick And Morty (since Revolver Entertainment doesn't do Adult Swim shows anymore). In regards to the likes of RWBY, isin't that region free anyway?. Aren't all of Rooster Teeth's stuff region free?
